I'm a UK size 3-4. Would medium be too big a size for me?.

I think maybe small would be best. I’m sure I bought medium & I wear a size 6 shoe.

The bamboo content is only 40% which seems quite low, is this enough to gain the benefits of bamboo? ie. cool, comfortable?

These socks are very comfortable. They are also 40% cotton which is also cooling and comfortable. I wore them in the hot June weather and had no issues with sweaty feet and they stay in place. I have recently bought a second pack.

I have wide chunky feet and socks usually leave an imprint if the elastic is too tight/hard. Anyone else have chunky feet, do they leave a mark?

My feet are quite wide plus have had numerous surgeries on toes going out of line. I find these socks really comfortable. They are a little thicker than others I have worn before, but the quality is better.
