Deceived is book two in the Wicked Woodleys series, following Forbidden. Jess Michaels is one of those authors with the talent to draw the reader in and deliver everything the reader desires. The characters come to life in this sexy romance filled with emotion, betrayal, hopefulness, and anxiety. Be prepared when you open the book to page one as this is one of those great books that you will not want to put down once you begin reading. So grab the book, open it and forget all your cares and escape into another time period. Although part of a series this book can be read as a stand-alone.Josie Westfall, as a result of a past incident with her best friend’s brother, has decided she will never marry. Being bullied throughout her life makes the decision to remain single even easier. Her best friend is also missing, which doesn’t help matters either. Josie and her mother are invited to a wedding which they feel obligated to attend. Even when Josie finds out Evan, the person who she holds responsible for her being all alone will be in attendance, she still must go.Evan, unknown to Josie, has felt really terrible about things he said to Josie those years ago and would like to make it up to her. Although Josie tries to avoid him, they are thrown together and he begins trying to make amends. But then he finds that Josie may hold secrets and information about his missing sister. He feels she is still attracted to him and has to decide if he can betray her by taking advantage of her feelings and using them to discover her secrets or should he follow the feelings he is beginning to have for her. Between him and his brother they make the decision that Evan will seduce Josie to find out what she knows. If she discovers this scheme will she ever believe that his feelings about her are real?I highly recommend any book written by Jess Michaels. I mark my calendar for upcoming releases and almost always read the books more than once. Anyone who enjoys romance will love reading her series of books. I anxiously await the next one.
