Sadly when I bought this because my cat was losing weight, his health was already out of control and he didn't make it long enough for the paste to arrive. So it sat in the fridge in hopes it would still be fresh when needed. We recently were sort of forced to adopt a cat who got run over in front of our house. He has a pelvis fracture, vet said 15K to do surgery which we couldn't do even for one of our own beloved cats, BUT, the vet said cage rest for 2-4mo usually works ok (the advantage of surgery is they recover faster and have less chance of a limp) so that's what this little guy is doing, just lying in a dog crate on pee pads, getting pain meds and waiting for his bones to knit. We've had a lot of little milestones along the way but a biggie was eating. He had a couple licks of food once, but otherwise fasted for an entire WEEK after his injury, and I was getting pretty nervous so I broke out this paste. I hesitated so long because wrestling a sore animal to get stuff crammed down their gullet seems like it would risk aggravating the injury. But he didn't fight! Apparently it's not tasty enough for him to eat it voluntarily (I did try first, plain on a plate and also mixed with hot water to make a broth) but when I shoot it in with an oral syringe he doesn't hate it enough to fuss! Smells like bacon to me. Not only was it a great tool while he was refusing food, to help prevent starvation or malnutrition, I think it actually woke his digestive system up, because the day after we started this (2.5mL or half a teaspoon, every 12h) he finally started accepting meals! YAHOO! I am continuing the paste though, figuring he needs the extra nutrition, and since it's open I may as well use it up. Some tips for doing oral syringes: I like to kneel behind the cat so they can't back up without hitting my thighs, and I bend forward over them til I can see their face, thus pinning their body down somewhat with my chest and restraining side movement with my elbows. With one hand squeeze the corners of the mouth, or in other words the jaw hinge, and the mouth pops right open. With the other hand shoot the liquid in, aiming at a slight angle so it hits the inside of the cheek, do not aim centrally or it can go down their windpipe! And only shoot in maybe 1mL at a time, let them swallow and have a couple breaths, then do another bit. If they feel overwhelmed by too big a mouthful, like they're being waterboarded, of course they will develop a fear of the procedure and become difficult. I'd also suggest if you have a very sore cat like ours, and you're not experienced with oral syringes, practise with just some water, on one of your healthy cats, so as to not be manhandling the one with broken bones or incisions or whatnot. I find that being graceful and fast gets it over with in a split second, before they have a chance to get upset. But it takes practice to get graceful and fast. While you're in the stage where you're not great at it yet and it's a bad time, remember to try to bring calm energy to the situation. No matter how frustrating it is or how badly they scratch, acting upset will only make the task harder, so breathe deeply and don't tense up, murmur cheerfully no matter what! Channel your inner Mary Poppins or Mr Rogers LOL. But maybe you'll be lucky and your pet will eat this voluntarily! The texture and smell are VERY nice compared to most pet supplements I've tried.

10days in I have visible positive results in my 14yo cat. Behavioral,health,and weight gain. No upset stomach. You will be tempted to give more than directed…DON’T. Treat it like medicine. The new pouch, with the picture of a cat & dog on the label, rather than the old purple and white, seems to have changed. I have been using this stuff for years, since the old purple and white plastic cylinder containers, and it had been working well. When I got the new two pouches, in my latest subscribe and save order, they seemed almost balloon like, which I just figured that they had been filled under pressure, initially. I opened one, it smelled okay, and I used it as I have been using it. One of my cats is 16 and has CUPS (mouth sores), so she gets fed meat babyhood mixed with other things like broth and a tablespoon of this to give her more calories. She had been doing fine, and has been eating the same mixture including this for over a year. When I made her breakfast a few days ago, with this new pouch, she immediately threw up after eating. I figured it was just a thing, so I gave her some saved in the fridge in an older batch, using the older Miracle Vet (chilling them works better for her sometimes) and she ate that fine. Later, I tried the newly mixed batch, with this new Miracle Vet again. Again, immediate and violent vomiting. I waited a few days (not adding the mircale vet to the mix, and she ate just fine). Then I tried some with the new Miracle Vet added and she immediately threw up again. I need to see about a refund on these, as either they have changed something, or they are contaminated somehow. I wondered about the balloon-like inflation of the pouches and now I'm wondering if it may be due to bacterial biological activity and resulting gasses (as I said, it did smell normal when I opened it). I am very disappointed as this worked so well for so long, I went through dozens of containers of Miracle Vet over the past few years, and now I need to see about returns (it costs too much not to) and find an alternative additive to give her more calories. Anyway, I'll be curious to see if anyone else reports problems with this latest batch in the new pouches. I should sit down and compare the ingredients, since I still have an old MV cylinder around (but not a purple and white pouch, unfortunately I threw my last one out when it was empty). I made check the local Petsmart or Petco to see if they have any older pouches of MV.

Seems tasty according to my super picky geriatric cat. My 18 years old ancient kitty is super picky, and can spy a supplement from a mile away. He is not having any particular health issue, he is just a skinny cat with a little arthritis. He likes to eat, but sometimes he is so picky that he doesn't seem to get enough food. I want to make sure he is taking in the nutrients, and hopefully getting a few extra calories too. That and his fur is a little dull with dandruff. His tuxedo has seen better days. I had at one time tried him on the gnc high calorie nutri cal stuff.. omg, that was not for him. He couldnt stand the sticky texture (I've had some cats that loved it). So I kept eye-balling this product, and finally bought it. It is smooth. Like a yogurt or baby food texture. Has a decent aroma. My boy initially lapped it up-- which wowed me. After that he hasn't been too keen. But it made me realize that I am more apt to get away with mixing this into his wet food than I would other supplements. This is really more food like. I have used this for both of my senior cats at different times, during their end stages of life. I highly recommend- HIGHLY recommend! My first cat whom died at the age of 20, this helped her by giving her the vitamins she needed. It didn’t help her gain weight, but I truly believe it helped her feel good and helped her from vomiting during her final days. My current cat, whom has a tumor in her mouth. Some times she does eat well. I give her this almost everyday. I started this because she went two days without eating. I syringe feed her this and by the next day she started eating little by little until she is eating normally. She did gain weight with this product and now I make sure I give her some more frequently. Also, while she was on medication, the side effects made her uncoordinated and she hurt herself. Her back legs would move, thank God I already had this and her legs started slowly starting to move again and she is trying to stand and walk more and more everyday! It's only been a few days of trying this , but, unfortunately, my senior cat doesn't seem to like the taste or smell of this product. I was really hoping this would help him put on a little weight. Ironically, it's having the opposite effect. I don't blame the company that makes it. I know many cats can be very finicky eaters. However, my cat used to devour everything I put in front of him. He's getting old (13) though. I think he also had a rough beginning as a stray kitten. That may be a factor of his failing appetite/health now. If you try this, I'd reccomend getting the 16 oz size first to see if your cat likes it. That's what I opted to get and I'm glad I did.

After my foster cats and resident cats became sick with giardia—likely picked up from an adoption event—I was introduced to this product by a cat rescue. Here’s how it helped and what I learned: How This Product Helped: Encouraged Nutrient Intake: When my cats lost their appetites due to vomiting and diarrhea, I mixed a small amount of Miracle Vet with warm homemade broth. This helped them get some nutrients without overwhelming their digestive system. Tasty & Easy to Administer: My cats enjoyed the taste, making it easy to drizzle over wet food or mix into broth. Eventually, they would lick it straight from a plate. Great for Recovery & Post-Surgery Support: I would recommend this product for pets recovering from spay/neuter surgery or illness when they need extra calories. Long Shelf Life & Storage: I stored it in the fridge after opening and plan to freeze it to extend its shelf life. Important Things I Learned About Giardia Treatment & Prevention: Hygiene is Crucial: Giardia can persist on a cat’s fur unless they are bathed and their anus is cleaned after each bowel movement. I used chlorhexidine soap and wipes regularly. Bathing & Cleaning Routine: I bathed my cats at the start and end of their medication treatment using chlorhexidine shampoo to remove any lingering giardia cysts. Between baths, I wiped their fur and anus frequently, especially after bowel movements. Litter Box Maintenance: I thoroughly cleaned the litter box after every bowel movement and did a deep clean every other day using a recommended bleach-to-water mixture. I also dumped all the litter and replaced it with fresh litter every two days to prevent reinfection. It was a lot of work, but I did not want this to come back. Cleaning Protocols Matter: I bought a steam mop for disinfecting floors and carpets and learned that while RESCUE cleaner is effective against many pathogens, it does not kill giardia cysts. This may be why my fosters picked it up at the event. Isolation & Deep Cleaning: I washed all bedding in hot water and bleach, tossed non-washable toys, and thoroughly steamed the cat condo. Probiotics for Gut Health: I added FERA probiotics to the broth mixture with the appetite enhancer to help support their recovery. Cautionary Notes: Do Not Give This to a Vomiting Animal: I was specifically advised not to give this product if the animal is vomiting, as they may be unable to hold food down. Our Chihuahua was so sick and weak. She could hardly walk. We thought she had gallstones because her liver enzymes were high. One ultrasound later, found that it wasn’t that. But she had lost a lot of weight from a thin, finely tuned body. She lost her appetite and was wasting away getting weaker and weaker. Seriously thought she wasn’t going to survive. I found this. My chunky monkey begs for a lick, but she is half a pond overweight and when you weigh five pounds, that makes you start to look like a sausage. My skinny baby is filling out. Her hip bones have a little cover on them, her ribs aren’t so pronounced, there is now something between her spine and her fur. It really is a miracle. It brought my baby back from the brink. Her poo is soft ,frequently, but the pro-pectalin keeps it solid. When she recovers, she will get a maintenance dose as needed. I will always keep this around now, keep away from my eater, but give it to my picky girl to keep her healthy.
