The Artisan Heritage Fire Kit – Hand-Forged Carbon Steel & English Flint in a Premium Top-Grain Leather Pouch

WOW ! I just received the kit 2 days after ordering. First test was 2 strikes and burning ember. I am very impressed with the quality of all components. The kit contained a beautiful high quality leather pouch, large fat flint(over three inches long),well made striker and a nice tin of charred cloth.I can not understand any negative reviews. The key is also to know how to use the contents. There are many utubes to help if you are new to this style of fine making.I highly recommend this product.

This is a great set to add to your fire kit…i am extremely happy with this set..well should I say the flint stone was excellent but the striker needs lots of work to make it spark just a little.. think the steel is either too hard or doesn’t have enough carbon…i swapped it out with a good one i had….hope this helps

I've never owned nor used a flint & steel to start a fire but this was very easy to use on my second strike. I was able to catch a spark on the very small piece of char clothe. I'm very impressed with this kit specially that I am able to add extra pieces of gear like a bic lighter, storm proof matches, ferro rod and even a magnifying glass to the leather pouch fitting nicely.

The Striker in this kit is bad. It will not throw a Spark. Very disappointed in this product. The Steel in the kit is soft metal, and will not work. Bought a different cheaper striker, and it throws great, hot sparks . Do not waste your time with this kit. It’s Junk. !!

Nice kit but had issues making sparks with it. Others have said the steel needs better hardening and tempering, which I agree with. Another steel from Coopers Bay works much better.

Good piece of kit to learn old style fire craft. The char cloth that comes with it wouldn’t smolder when I tried. The tin dented and wouldn’t open later. It’s very thin and won’t stand up to hard use. I use an altoids tin instead. The rest of the kit works just fine.

It took me about a week to figure it out, but I MASTERED this primitive fire skill. Just use enough char-cloth, make enough char-cloth afterwards, and you can even set wet oak leaves ablaze! The leather carrying case is super sturdy, too! I threw a ferro rod, Bic lighter, and a magnifying glass in it and I have 4 methods of starting a fire on my hip at all times!

Very compact fire starting kit. I put it on my belt and it is always with me when I'm in the woods. Very good quality, and easy to make an ember even with the char cloth in made. Which was my first try so not so good, but it worked. Very pleased.

Good kit I like the striker not to big not too small the flint is good size the only problem I find is the tin for char material is in aluminum not steel so you can’t make more char material in the wood it melts! change the tin for a metal tin it would be a perfect kit!! So one star less for that reason only the rest is perfect!

Wasn’t expecting the item to be as good a quality as it is.leather pouch is extremely good quality.hand made striker is extremely good quality as well.basically the whole kit is very good quality and value.I recommend this kit.

Ottimo prodotto anche se pensavo fosse più grande...... acciarino e pouch sono belli ma la pouch è un po' piccolina......e la selce o pietra da usare con l'acciarino è troppo piccola e si rompe quando cerchi di fare scintille.......... la sostituiro' presto........ per il resto ok

It will take a long time for me to master this method of firelighting, which is the point of getting it for me. Steel looks very well made and feels great in the hand, can get a good spark when I strike the flint correctly. But I'm a little saddened by the pouch. I expected a nice strong pouch, stiff and robust for outdoors use. But weirdly one side is very soft and bendy and the other is a little stiffer. The popper is cheap. I guess that considering you get a whole set for £30 instead of just a steel for £15, the pouch will be a little bad. But it's a shame anyway.
