I needed to cover my AC drain to keep the lizards (Florida) from running in and out. Not sure they were causing a problem, but... Worked great, the black part is very rigid and screws onto a PVC thread tightly. Before I recieved the strainer, I for some reason assumed it would be flexible. Works great, Recommended!

This strainer is nice and robust. It should hold up to most all suction strainer duties typically found at home. The thread *can* fit onto a typical US garden hose, but the threads are slightly different. You *can* get it on, but it's not the correct thread. It will go on, and will stay on, and will work great. The thread for this strainer is listed as "3/4-14". A typical garden hose is "3/4-11.5 NH". It'll fit, and will work ok, but the threads won't line up properly. Here's more on garden hose threads: This standard thread size is the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) standard for garden hose fitting thread size, which is ¾”–11.5 NH or NHR. NH stands for American Standard Hose Coupling Threads of Full Form (used for a standard machined thread), and NHR stands for American Standard Hose Coupling Threads for Garden Hose Applications (used for rolled or formed threads such as Swan’s rolled male thread).

works well for my application on a 1-1/4 hose to a hand buildge pump stopes leaves from cloging the line. i have a hand buildge pump i bought here. if it clogs and brakes the siphon i can clear it and pump till the siphon starts and go again no power and ten foot of hose i can use this for many apps. it does screw right on to a standard npt thread so hose barb from the hardware store and that end is good

I use on small pump just clean out screen immediately after use or it's hard to remove debris without damaging screen.

Perfect fit for my live well drain. We’ll see over time the quality of the stainless steel mesh is.

Works great for our pond setup - keeps any large debris out of the pipe before it reaches the secondary fine filter. Simple to install, threads seem heavy duty and fit a standard NPT adapter from the local plumbing shop.
