My son and I are reading through the illustrated Harry Potter books and I couldn't pass up adding this one to the collection before we've even finished the first. The price was right! The illustrations are great and I love that it includes a bookmark to keep your place.

As lifelong Harry Potter fans, we knew we had to get the illustrated edition by Jim Kay as soon as we saw it. Jim Kay’s illustrations are absolutely incredible—his take on the Harry Potter world brings a whole new level of magic to the books. Every page is a work of art, and the illustrations perfectly capture the essence of the characters and settings we know and love. Seeing these illustrations again has reignited our passion for the series in a way we didn’t expect. It’s like rediscovering the magic all over again! The details are so rich and vibrant, it almost feels like you're seeing the story for the first time. We love showing off this collection to every Potterhead who comes over. It’s one of those things that never gets old, and it’s so much fun to experience the wizarding world through Jim Kay’s eyes. If you’re a fan of the series, this is a must-have—an absolute treasure that brings the books to life in a new and beautiful way!

Nearly everyone on the planet has read the Harry Potter books by now, so I’m not going to give this book a traditional review. I only want to talk about my reading experience with the illustrated edition of The Prisoner of Azkaban. More than any other books, the Harry Potter Series spurred my love of reading. There were times in my life when I felt too busy or burdened to read, but I would always make time each summer for these books as they released. I quite literally grew up with the characters, reading the books at the same age as the characters were. I read the first book in 2000 when I was ten and The Deathly Hallows the summer after my senior year of high school. Even from childhood, I knew I wanted to share these books with my own children someday and have been waiting for the time when they would be old enough to comprehend the stories. Luckily, the books illustrated by Jim Kay were the perfect way to begin these books a little earlier with my young children. We have a tradition going, though my kids know the movies inside and out, I’m being a bit of a mean mom and making my kids wait to read the books as the illustrated editions come out. We are at the mercy of Jim Kay’s talent, waiting until the Goblet of Fire is released in its illustrated form to continue with the series. I also don’t let my kids flip ahead to sneak peeks at the pictures. Each time we turn the page, a surprise is waiting for us on the other side. This makes reading the series even more fun than I expected, as we want to read to more and more just to look at the gorgeous artwork. I was most excited to read The Prisoner of Azkaban because it’s my favorite book of the entire series. The Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs revelation blew my mind as a kid and I couldn’t wait for my kids to experience it too…since it’s unfortunately left out of the movie adaptation. As we crept toward the end of the story, my daughter was begging me to continue reading until my voice was so hoarse, I had to stop. As I hoped, she was nearly as excited about the ending of the story as I was as a child. I’m extremely grateful for these moments, sharing my own childhood favorites with my kids, thanks to J.K. Rowling and Jim Kay. The books and the memories they have fostered will be forever cherished.

Amazing quality. The book is filled with amazing illustrations that brings a whole new experience. I got it as a gift for someone and she absolutely loved it, highly recommended as a gift for any fan of the series.

Ich habe die Harry Potter-Bände x-mal gelesen und als Hörbuch gehört, besitze die gesamte Reihe auf Deutsch und auf Englisch. Eigentlich sollte man meinen, dass dies genug Harry Potter für einen Haushalt ist, aber dann habe ich vor zwei Jahren den ersten Band der illustrierten Ausgabe entdeckt und beschlossen, dass ich diese nun auch noch unbedingt haben muss. Die illustrierte Ausgabe von ‚Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban‘ ist genauso schön, wie ich das nach den wundervollen ersten zwei Bänden erwartet habe. Das Anschauen des Buches macht schlichtweg Spaß, und die Detailverliebtheit des Illustrators Jim Kay ist schier unglaublich. Englischsprachige Rezensenten auf anderen Plattformen haben teilweise bemängelt, dass es nur wenige Zeichnungen im Buch gibt, und ich habe, ehrlich gesagt, keine Ahnung, wie sie darauf kommen, denn das Buch ist wunderbar und üppig bebildert, und die Zeichnungen sind so detailliert, so lebendig und so liebevoll, dass ich das Buch stundenlang anschauen könnte, weil ich immer wieder etwas Neues entdecke. Dabei haben mich einige der Zeichnungen besonders beeindruckt, z.B. die der Dementoren, die tatsächlich schwebend und nicht greifbar erscheinen, die von Harrys Patronus, der regelrecht schimmert und strahlt, so wie man das von einem Patronus erwartet, die vom Gewächshaus, das so magisch und so wundervoll ist, wie ich es mir nie hätte vorstellen können, die von Severus Snape, der aussieht wie ein altes Gemälde, die des Werwolfs, der gefährlich aussieht und so genau gemalt wurde, dass man meint, es gäbe ihn wirklich. Das Buch ist von vorn bis hinten hochwertig: wunderschön illustrierter Schutzumschlag mit reliefartigen Buchstaben, robuster Pappeinband in Lila, großartige Zeichnungen auf Vor- und Nachsatz, hochwertiges, dickes, glänzendes Papier mit beeindruckenden Illustrationen. Die Geschichte selbst ist ungekürzt, so dass man sich problemlos die illustrierte Ausgabe kaufen und die nicht-illustrierte weggeben kann, falls man nicht unbegrenzt Platz im Bücherregal hat. Ich finde, dass Kay der ohnehin großartigen Harry Potter-Welt noch etwas mehr Magie und Zauber einhaucht, obwohl ich das aufgrund von J.K. Rowlings Perfektion, Detailliertheit und sagenhafter Vorstellungskraft nicht für möglich gehalten habe. Ich freue mich schon darauf, das Buch wieder und wieder anzuschauen (und zum x-ten Mal zu lesen), und darauf, nächstes Jahr 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire' in den Händen zu halten.

O livro é perfeito, assim como os anteriores dessa edição. Ilustrações lindas. A única coisa que não gostei foi a embalagem enviada pela amazon, considerando que fiz uma compra internacional. O livro veio solto dentro de uma caixa, sem nenhuma proteção. Sorte que chegou inteiro, mas poderia ter sido diferente.
