Good Ladder, Great Safety Features - I Recommend
First, I will note, I purchased this, but returned it today, but ONLY because it was bigger than I anticipated. I opted to order the 10.5 Xtend & Climb, also here on Amazon, so I stuck with the same maker. I have a RV trailer and will use this during our outings. It's packed well and the directions are clear. This 12.5' is weighty at 32 lbs, but a good aspect to it is that it will hold up to 300 lbs. I always error on the side of caution. Better to have the added weight capacity if you're weight is closer to the 225 lb capacity of the smaller Type II Xtend & Climbs. Also, keep in mind, if you plan to carry any weight up it. My friend and I extended it to the full 12.5', fairly easy enough. I found the best way to do this is start with the top rung of course. What I like about this ladder compared to other telescoping ladders is that this ladder; LOCKS AT EACH INDIVIDUAL RUNG. Thus, you have a safety feature that locks the ladder every 12". Extending was easy, and as the green locking levers slid into the locking position, I could hear a distinct "click" as each section locked. If you go the full 12.5', lowering it can be some work, but because the way the retraction works, the fear of smashing your hand goes away. I'm going to get this out of order, but you'll get the gist. When lowering, you start from the bottom. As you unlock the slides on a rung, at times, the rung will full retract, but others, it will only 1/2 retract. This is NOT a defect. It's a safety feature. The next rung that half retracts, won't fully retract, until you retract the rung above it. This is genius as you don't pinch your hand or finger when lowering. This fit in the back seating area of my truck easily and in the bed. There is velcro strap that encompasses the entire rungs when closed, and has a nice soft padded handle under the last rung, right where you would pick it up to carry it. All in all, I'm impressed. My 10.5" arrived today, and I will trial it and leave a review. I recommend this ladder.

Far superior to the cheaper ones
Bought a cheap one first. One climb and sent it back. As a home inspector I need something quick, light and dependable. I was carrying send a 20+ foot aluminum extension ladder. This is my go to ladder. I had to use a Hyundai sonata for an inspection and this ladder for in the truck with ease. I do carry the ladder in the cab of my truck. Not yet willing to keep it in the bed.

Reliable, Well Built Telescope Ladder
There's a lot of telescopic ladders out there but after a lot of research and a very sceptical reading of "independent reviews" I decided to purchase this ladder. I wasn't disappointed with my decision. It is very well designed, sturdy & stable. I've used it a number of times and always felt safe & secure during use. It isn't the cheapest but it is well worth the price. I highly recommend.

The 'big and small' on the Xtend & Climb 780p
I researched a couple of telescoping ladder products and found the Xtend & Climb 780p to be a perfect choice. The measurements were conflicting on the Amazon website so I will give a definitive measurement. If you were to build a storage container it would fit inside of 4.75x19.75x32". The 4.75x19.75" measurement is at the base...at the top it tapers to 18 1/8x 3 1/8". It comes with a velcro strap that keeps the ladder compacted while transporting it. Built into the strap is a padded base that creates a natural holding position while transporting. The measurement from where your hand cusps the handle to the top of the ladder(which would be under your armpit) is 15". So someone with a shorter arm could easily carry this ladder. It's build sturdy and it weighs 29.6lbs. Extended it feels stable and well built. Time will tell on how it holds up. The other aspect of the past reviews seems a little murky on how the telescoping feature works so I will try to paint the perfect picture...One note: The older version of this design must have been a finger pincher, However this design is brilliant. It has a fail-safe design that when retracting the ladder it only retracts the selected segment 5"(each rung spacing is 12" extended) Selecting the next lower segment retracts the previous segment the final 7" and retracts the selected segment 5". This design keeps the compacting segments(the pincher) 7" away from your hands! In order to retract a segment you have to have both hands on each side of the ladder, with your thumbs horizontal contacting a safety latch. A simultaneous pushing action with your thumbs allows the segments to retract. The tolerance of the retracting tube design creates air pressure that deflects the weight of the retraction...a great design! Another note the other reviews don't cover is that the first rung is a fixed 6" above the ground. This enables you to put your foot under the rung while positioning the ladder on the ground (while the ladder is not fully extended... you will figure this out sooner or later). And another note is that it's very difficult to retract the ladder in a horizontal position (and I would not recommend it since you really don't want to get the segments dirty or filled with abrasive grit since this will diminish the retraction design). With this in mind it would be a good idea to keep it covered when not in use.

Xtend & Climb CS165AS - Excellent build quality.
The Xtend & Climb CS165AS Telescoping Ladder weighs more than I had expected. That's not a bad thing, in fact, I take it as a sign of very good build quality. The ladder is very easy to extend, but a bit more finicky to retract. Other reviewers are correct in stating that you have to keep your fingers out of the way when retracting, and that you need to press buttons with both thumbs simultaneously in order to retract properly. I used the ladder initially for painting a two-story staircase in my home. The ladder is very sturdy when fully extended, much more so than I had expected. I found the ladder to be comfortable to stand on, especially given that the unit is collapsable. The only features that I would like to see added are a small range of accessories that can be added for tools, painting items, etc.

A quality 15 foot ladder that can be stored in a closet
This was exactly what I needed for a particular use. The weight is appropriate to ensure required stability. Extends and collapses easily. If you're careless, there is the possibility of injury when collapsing but the risk is minimal. I felt that the cost was reasonable and am happy to have a quality ladder that can be so easily stored/transported.

The best!!
After 100+ roof inspections, for 250 pound guy like me, this thing is absolutely awesome. It fits in the back of my Tesla model Y or anywhere in the truck. Tons of people compliment me for the ladder as well I didnโt expect to happen. Lol.

Very well made ladder, very stable
Bought this ladder to keep in my truck, when I visit mom and dad there seems to be a project list and most of the time that list includes the use of a ladder. After using dads 1950 ladder a few times I decided I needed to bring a better ladder with me on every visit. I have a bunch of nice ladder's that I use for work and around my house, I didnโt want to tie a larger ladder to my truck every Sunday and then not need the ladder. This ladder fixed my issue perfectly, small enough to just keep in my truck and sturdy enough to allow me to use the ladder without the risk of falling. This ladder when fully extended is a sturdy ladder with very little flex or movement and feels nice while climbing and working on the ladder. A major improvement over dads rickety ladder. For my use this ladder is the perfect solution and I am very happy with the purchase.

Good Ladder but Can Collapse Unexpectedly
I had a rung collapse once and it dropped down on my other foot. Very painful! Maybe it was just me? This ladder is much heavier than I expected, too. The locking mechanism for the rungs is finicky. I was disappointed in this ladder.

Expensive but worth it
I did a lot of research before buying this, including watching videos on line. I decided it was worth going for a high quality produce and I have not been disappointed. Reasonably compact to store in a flat; durable; manageable to operate. A professional roofer borrowed it when he was here doing some work and was very impressed. Downsides are the weight and the operation of it, which takes some practice, and of course the price. But I am very happy I bought it.

Use it and forget it would be better. The notion of ladder maintenance was a surprise
Rungs do not always collapse back down as expected. Support claims Pledge Wipes should be used on the stiles and silicone spray on the thumb latches. Use it and forget it would be better. The notion of ladder maintenance was a surprise.
