However, this brand, and a few others, do not carry a 9 size! So I went with a 9.5 size. It was a bit too long in the toe area. The width was ok, but had to tighten up the lacings on one foot. The opening to slide the foot into the shoe was a little tight, but it has loosened up over the week. The red color is mixed with black threads to give a subtle red color. Attractive. The weave is not stiff. It is breathable. The ties are for decoration, but will tighten the sides. The sole is a white material. Not quite like regular athletic shoes. Maybe a little bit plasticy looking, but not bad. The upper material is a bit flimsier than regular jogging shoes. Overall, he is happy with the comfort and ease of putting on. Win, win! He says they are comfortable to wear.
