The right option for simple work
Have been using Crucial for a very long time, both for their excellent memory modules and their SSD's. Don't think I've ever had a Crucial RAM stick failure ... maybe one or two? They are reliable, and are always in the frame for all of my RAM purchases, along with Samsung, Micron, Kingston - any manufacturer who offers lifetime warranty on their RAM is someone you should be buying from. The BX500 is a great budget SSD choice, where you want your money to favour storage capacity. 3 year as opposed to the MX500 which has a 5 year warranty, but in this case, the BX500 is the better choice as it is for a seldom used laptop that needs that performance boost from the 5400rpm hard drive that is really struggling now after all those updates have burdened the operating system with. The performance is not too far off the MX500 as the underpinnings are mostly the same. MX is definitely better, but BX is better here and that's what the BX range was made for.

It does what it promises.
The Crucial BX500 3D NAND SATA 2.5-inch SSD is a budget-friendly option for those looking to upgrade from traditional hard drives. It offers decent sequential read and write speeds of up to 550MB/s and 480MB/s, respectively, making it suitable for everyday tasks. It comes with a three-year warranty. While it's an affordable choice for casual users, those seeking better endurance and features might consider alternatives like the Crucial MX500, or even switch to NVME. It does what it promises.

Performs adequately and does the job.
I purchased this to replace a failed drive in a satellite set-top box. It went in with no problems and didn't even need formatting, and is now recording and storing programmes as well as the failed one. Some of these devices have extra buffering, but I find that this is unnecessary in normal situations, and would only be of extra use in disk intensive applications (i.e. badly written ones).

Can’t go wrong with Crucial
Bought to give an old till motherboard a new lease of life as a home server. Perhaps not the quickest ssd anymore but it sure is faster than using an HDD. System feels responsive - even when using an i7 3770. Can’t comment on longevity but I haven’t used crucial in the past and expect decent future performance.

Not Godzilla its Rescuezilla to Clone old HDD
Been given a Xbox One to tinker with and managed to fix it as well as re-paste etc. the old HDD was making a weird noise so purchased this SSD to replace it. As I couldn't be bothered doing formatting and creating partitions, as per Xbox requirements. I used rescuezilla, a free open source software you put on a usb stick to run. And cloned the old HDD onto the Crucial 500GB SSD. Surprised how quick it did this and its now in the Xbox One with a couple of games on it. Works perfectly so pleased with this. Just a couple of hours including taking the Xbox apart, thanks YouTube, getting the old HDD out, downloading rescuezilla and putting on a USB. Then cloning and putting everything back together plus installing games.

Worth it
I bought this as my laptop was not functioning with the hdd drive, easy to install and made a huge difference in speed I can finally use my laptop again, but the cloning software that was recommended by them was quite bad, I ended up using disk genius which was much better. Make sure to get the sata iii cable if you need to clone your hdd to the ssd before installing
