It is like being wrapped up in a big gay blanket. Simply perfect’ – V. E. Schwab, Sunday Times bestselling author of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil A cosy, enchanting story about the profound experience of discovering an unlikely family in an unexpected place. The House in the Cerulean Sea is an uplifting, heart-warming queer fantasy from TJ Klune, a Sunday Times and New York Times bestselling author. Linus Baker leads a quiet life. At forty, he has a tiny house with a devious cat and his beloved records for company. And at the Department in Charge of Magical Youth, he’s spent many dull years monitoring their orphanages. Then, one day, everything changes. Linus is summoned by Extremely Upper Management and given a highly classified assignment. He must travel to an orphanage where six dangerous children reside – including the Antichrist. At the orphanage, Linus must somehow determine if these children could bring about the end of days. But their guardian, the charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, will do anything to protect his wards. And, as Arthur and Linus grow ever closer, Linus must choose: his duty, or his dreams . . . Continue the adventure with the second entry in the Cerulean Chronicles, Somewhere Beyond the Sea . ‘A modern fairy tale . . . It’s a beautiful book’ – Charlaine Harris, No. 1 New York Times bestselling author * * * Readers fell in love with The House in the Cerulean Sea : ‘I was completely captivated’ ‘I adored all the characters and was so moved by the whole story’ ‘This is a glorious, romantic, old fashioned, queer fantasy’ ‘A tale as beautiful as this one should be compulsory reading’ ‘If you want a magical romance that will make you giggle and cry, this is for you’ Review: the book that got me out of my non-reading funk! - A book that finally kept me hooked, made me laugh, cry and dance with joy. It was very well written and all the kids were so damn cute. Review: Fantasy and Fantastic - My first dip into fantasy aside from the little HP reading I did as a child. And what a joy this book was. The cover might speak of a story of strength and finding meaning but I was honestly most taken aback by how funny a read it was too. All-round wholesome and a brilliant pick for whoever's reading this. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | #2,961 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) #9 in Paranormal Romance (Books) #10 in Romantic Fantasy #14 in Clean & Wholesome Romance (Books) | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 92,260 Reviews | ## Images ![The House in the Cerulean Sea: TikTok made me buy it! - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71bgrXZvbuS.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Media Format** options. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ the book that got me out of my non-reading funk! *by C***I on 29 June 2026* A book that finally kept me hooked, made me laugh, cry and dance with joy. It was very well written and all the kids were so damn cute. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fantasy and Fantastic *by K***S on 5 July 2026* My first dip into fantasy aside from the little HP reading I did as a child. And what a joy this book was. The cover might speak of a story of strength and finding meaning but I was honestly most taken aback by how funny a read it was too. All-round wholesome and a brilliant pick for whoever's reading this. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Warm and beautiful book *by S***I on 3 May 2021* Our time on this planet is finite. And, we have our fallacies.' The House in the Cerulean Sea is based on the premise of finding love amidst the most unexpected situation. Thoroughly entertaining and interesting, this book makes you turn every page with enough grit. The temerity of the characterization, the humor in the interactions and a very simple yet soul stirring plot, make this novel worth a read. This is my first read by TJ Klune and i am glad i wasn't disappointed. The House in the Cerulean Sea has a linear plot with fewer twists. It is like feeling the warmth of the sea breeze on a sunny day. As a reader, i was glued to the book and finished it sooner than i expected. The story is that of Linus Baker living a mundane loveless life in his 40s. He works for DICOMY ( Dept Incharge of Magical Youth). He is a meticulous caseworker who decides whether orphanages which shelter kids with magical powers are running efficiently. His life takes an enormous turn when he is assigned a duty at Marsys island to probe into one such similar orphanage whose master is Arthus Parnassus. With 6 magical children and an island sprite, Linus finds himself getting closer and more attuned to his innermost feelings. The book is especially remarkable for the fair and pure representation of the queer. What i particularly did not like about the book is the inability of the writer to provide for details. The writing is rather superficial towards the middle and end. It somehow seems peripheral. I would have loved if the nuances were explored in greater detail. Sure, the end is a happy one and i was left with a smile when i closed the book. ## Frequently Bought Together - The House in the Cerulean Sea (Cerulean Chronicles) - Somewhere Beyond the Sea (Cerulean Chronicles, 2) - Under the Whispering Door --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.sn/products/468993540-the-house-in-the-cerulean-sea-tiktok-made-me-buy](https://www.desertcart.sn/products/468993540-the-house-in-the-cerulean-sea-tiktok-made-me-buy) --- *Product available on Desertcart Senegal* *Store origin: SN* *Last updated: 2026-10-01*
