His 'brothers' annihilated the cone in one day. I bandaged the area first with a non-stick gauze, wrapped it with vet wrap and then applied the hock brace which kept him from tearing off the bandage. Would recommend it for lick wounds but over a dressing so the brace doesn't rub. She slipped and fell on her rear leg. Unable to stand on her own. In the durum of waiting for a vet appointment, I used a thin knee brace with Velcro to use until my brace arrived with 24 hours. She was able to walk, but with pain. The vet said that she had a torn meniscus. She is too old with bad hips for surgery. He put the option out there of casting her leg, but it would take 5 team members to hold her in an upright position. He didn't really push it on me, due to her age. He increased her pain meds. I do a lot of research and it's possible she can mend with the help of this brace, plus I ordered another. If this can help with a torn meniscus, think what it can do for a dog with hip problems, sprains, etc. I was pleasantly surprised that it was good quality, good support and that's what was needed for my faithful companion. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Amazing *by L***G on March 24, 2024* I had so much doubt in this product with all the mixed reviews, but my dog suffered from a sprain in her back leg from chasing a squirrel, she wouldn't put ANY pressure on her leg and just layed for days. We had to pick her up and take her outside where she wouldn't even get up to go to the bathroom. It was rough so we decided to try these. We bought 2 of them one for each back leg and she was like a new dog! Walking by herself going to bathroom, she's still limping a little bit she can now get around! My only complaint is the Velcro, the Velcro goes all the way around so when u strap it there's a lot of Velcro showing causing everything to stick to it and causing it to be harder for her to get up when she is stuck to blankets! One morning we noticed a slight limp and realized he was favoring a back leg and trying to keep weight off his foot. After cleaning paw pads, applying paw lotion, and rubbing up and down his leg looking for any sign of injury, I took him into the vet. Tucker limped away with a diagnosis of a CCL injury and strict instructions to give him no exercise, potty only on a leash, medicate, ice and heat the area, and to generally take it easy for two weeks. Knowing we have a 65 pound, active puppy, I decided to research braces. After researching for hours, I realized this brace had the most promising reviews and was also quite reasonable in cost.I felt a bit silly bracing my puppy's leg - not to mention, he can't exactly tell us if it's helping. Long story short, Tucker has taken to liking this brace to much he'll bring it over to us and gently wait while we Velcro it on with a big smile on his face! This leads me to believe it really is helping him and he knows it too.After a week of rest, medicine, ice/heat and wearing this brace for a couple of hours here or there when activity may be necessary, Tucker is no longer limping. I'm so thankful for this tool and know it played a role in getting him back up quickly!Sizing note: he has thick, athletic legs and I was worried about sizing and whether this would fit. I purchased the XL and it has plenty of room and is a bit large in some areas, but because of the design it is no issue at all and the Velcro holds the brace tight to his leg. If in doubt, I would recommend sizing up - we did with no problems in functionality.Hair in Velcro: Being a golden, we're used to a lot of hair everywhere, but the Velcro does collect hair.
