Review: Great for the price - So far I've only just set it up With gas mig Got it running decently well And welded up a couple of pieces of steel for maybe 10 or 15 minutes. I'm an old welder a bit out of practice But I had this thing running pretty quick. And running on a 30 amp 110 off of a small generator Using .30 wire It ran surprisingly well. All the parts are surprisingly beefy Almost Nothing feels cheap. I have but one singular complaint. The power cable is the only thing That is cheap it is too thin of wire even running on a 30 amp 110 for just a few minutes that wire was Already getting pretty darn warm I can't imagine how hot that thing would get running on 220 for any Significant length of time. I intend to keep a close eye on this in the future. Considering I got mine on sale for 350$ I can deal with allowing it time to cool off
Review: Great entry level multi-process welder! Almost perfect - I have been really impressed with the ArcCaptain MIG200 multi-process welder. I bought this welder as an upgrade and replacement for my old Millermatic 140 welder. This ArcCaptain welder has so much more versatility, adjustment, and power compared to the old basic transformer MIG welder I'm coming from. The build quality is excellent, although it may not be as durable as a big name brand, but for DIY hobby use in the garage it will be more than tough enough. The welder comes with almost everything you need to MIG or stick weld out of the box. The only items you'll need to pick up are your MIG wire, shielding gas (unless you run flux-core wire), a gas regulator, or your stick welding electrodes. The welder comes with extra MIG consumables and uses standard tweco style contact tips readily available. 3 different styles of wire drive rolls are provided; V-groove for solid wire, knurled groove for flux wire, and U-groove for aluminum wire. Unfortunately ArcCaptain appears to have a packaging issue though because even with 7 drive rolls included in the kit none of them have a groove sized for running 0.035" (0.9mm) wire of any type. Hopefully they correct this issue in the future. This welder welds nicely and creates an easy to control weld bead. I'm a little rusty with my handwork so the inconsistencies in my test welds were the result of my own travel speed issues and not the welder. The Synergistic MIG functionality is really nice and provides a really good starting point for MIG weld settings. The one thing that ArcCaptain completely fails to mention in their user manual though is that when your in Synergistic mode you MUST set the AMPERAGE level appropriate for the material thickness being welded and then the machine will adjust the voltage and wire feed speed accordingly. For any beginner, just follow this rule of thumb and use 1 Amp for ever 0.001" of material thickness (ex. for welding 1/8" thick steel start with the welder set to 125A in synergistic mode and adjust the voltage from there if the weld is too hot/cold for your liking). My only minor complaints about the welder, aside from the missing 0.035" drive rolls, are that ArcCaptain didn't include a MIG setup chart sticker inside the door cover (which is standard practice on all MIG machines), and that the unit comes wired for 110V input and they provide a 110V to 220V adapter cable. I think this practice of passing 220V through a 110V plug is poor design and may even be a violation of certain electrical safety codes. The better design would've been to have a 220V cable wired to the unit and adapt down to a 110V plug when needed. Overall this ArcCaptain MIG200 welder is a great value for all of the functionality it provides. It provides many more advanced features typically reserved for welders 2-3X the price of this unit. ArcCaptains support team has also been very helpful and responsive to my emails and the customer support is excellent for an international company. I'd highly recommend this welder to anyone looking for an excellent value multi-process MIG welder.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Which brand of tig and spool gun fit this welder?**
A: Thanks for your question,
Separated TIG torch, 35-50 plug . QLB-200 spool torch with 4 pin aviation plug.

**Q: What's in the package?**
A: By Mark S. on October 11, 2022

**Q: Jas to comfirm, it will do gas mig welding, i just need my own gas supply correct?**
A: No regulator supplied, if you are going to do short arc mig then use C25 (75/25) gas. Plenty of the inert gas regulators sold on Amazon, a flow guage will work also if desired.

**Q: What is the max thickness of metals it can weld?**
A: It works well on 1/8'', also good weld on 1/4 inch steel with a 3/32 6011. Still not tested TIg fuction yet.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I'm very impressed, it works great.
*by B***6 on April 20, 2024*

The Arccaptain MIG 200 kept coming up on YouTube videos and after looking on amazon it also had very good reviews. I couldn't help but notice the features and prices were almost exactly in line with the 205DS-b. By all accounts they are both very highly rated and seem to perform very well, so I investigated the Arccaptain further. I really liked the layout of the display and the way the machine looked aesthetically, not like a toy. I liked that it had a spot weld feature and I also thought the light in the cabinet was a great idea. The other thing that I started noticing was that it seemed like in the newer reviews that it was also coming with a 240v cable adapted down to 120v, much better and safer. Now, on the not so good side the torch cable is a little on the light weight side, but it works fine. The first one I ordered arrived defective, but Amazon sent out a replacement quickly. Since then I have used it on both 120 and 240v and it works well on both. I've only had a chance to play around with some 1/8th inch and 3/16th coupons and some 18 gauge sheets to try out the spot weld feature, but so far I'm very happy with it. I love that the fan doesn't come on until the welder is in use, that's a BIG plus. The standard setting chart in the door seems to be pretty far off what I experienced , especially the wire speed. I started using a Miller multimatic 200 chart, specifically the one for 110v, (even though I'm using 240) that I found online and that does a way better job putting me in the ballpark of where to start my settings. The sync feature doesn't "just work", you have to manually set up baseline settings for your wire and material and then flip it to sync. After that it does work well. I've had the Arcaptain for almost a week and I'm very happy with my decision, it works really well! Update 10-20-2025: I now have many hours on this machine with mostly 1/8 and 3/16 steel and it has performed flawlessly. I still give it five stars and I would definitely buy another one! Reply
