Bad first impression but excellent bag once given a chance
I rarely do these reviews as I never think about it when a product is great. Only when I want to warn people away from a trap product. But here we go. I opened this and was immediately put off. I don't know why, but it was an immediate "absolutely no". BUT I decided to give it a try and do a trial pack of our stuff. For context we have been traveling for 6 years and in backpacks only for parts of that. I was floored at how much I could fit easily into this backpack. I LOVED the zipper access and the pockets but that the main compartment was huge. It is extremely comfortable to carry and the straps feel good. I do have a little discomfort around my collarbones but that us due to my anatomy and nothing with the bag. It adjusts down to fit my 5ft tall daughter and myself at 5ft 10in. So it is really adjustable. I previously used a hiking backpack that says it is also 40L but this one holds way more. Like carry on plus personal item more. I seriously have 3 seasons of clothing packed into 4 packing cubes, personal care items, a laptop plus extra screen, a 1gallon ziplock bag of random food/snack items, my daughter's ipad, 2 rain jackets, a pair of sandals, and more that all fits in this backpack. I don't even carry a personal item anymore other than my purse, unless my daughter needs more space. Anyway, if you are on the fence about this backpack, try it. And if yout first instinct is HECK NO, give it a chance. Pack ot and wear it around your house for a bit. Side note, I did say it fits my daughter's frame, but it is definitely too big for a 10yo. A 5ft adult could definitely do it if they were used to the weight, but it's too big for a child even though it 'fits'. Or at least it's too big for my child. Not sure that really makes sense.

Strong, sturdy and rugged
Great rucksack, really well made. Materials really strong, and thick felt like my possessions were secure and safe. I did think the waist belt was a little stiff and not so comfortable, it is lightly padded but could do with thicker padding. Iโm only small too and it felt quite large lengthways on my back. Good colours, amazing space. Loved how it opened up as a suitcase shape which made it easier to get items out rather than digging to the bottom of a traditional rucksack. Was a good price on sale, and Osprey hold their retail value if you look after them

Great backpack
Nice sized backpack with plenty of space. I'm quite short and I could adjust everything so the straps and weight were distributed evenly. The straps on the front were great for securing my sleeping bag on the outside giving me more space for clothes etc. Stands up well to use, not had any issues with zips etc.

Perfect for your travels
I used this for my 1 year travelling trip around the world and it was perfect. Itโs sturdy and comfortable, easy to carry on short and long distances without weighing you down too much or giving you back ache. Itโs compact and held a lot of things. Of course it is only 40L so I did cut down on some unnecessary items and made sure I had enough stuff to last at least 2 weeks, if youโre not very good at travelling light or just donโt want to get rid of all your necessities then I would recommend probably going for a larger bag. The lightest weight it was at when I was away was 7kg and the heaviest around 12.5kg. It has multiple different compartments and even a hidden space for a laptop in the back. Itโs also the perfect size for a carry-on (check the airlines carry-on dimensions) on most airlines, I personally had no problem getting it on Ryanair and other similar airlines. The shoulder straps also can be folded and zipped away if you need to check the bag in. It also opens up like a suitcase. My only problem is that itโs not waterproof nor resistant but I knew that before hand and bought a waterproof cover for it. Overall it was perfect for what I needed and Iโd buy it again.

Great backpack
Loved this bag for my 18-day trip to Thailand. Itโs very spacious and I could fit a lot in with packing cubes. The inner and outer clips are great for compressing everything and keeping if secure, and the outer clips are handy for attaching things - I used them for my trainers and sandals along the way. I liked the back zip - although itโs a very slip pocket itโs handy for if you forget to put something in the bag and youโve already zipped it all up! I loved that the bag zips open all the way around rather from the top - far easier to access things and live out your bag if youโre backpacking from hostel to hostel and canโt unpack everything. An excellent bag and in my opinion worth the money I paid (bought when on sale).

A good option to consider.
Great back pack for travelling. I love the large compartment as it's much easier to find items and has a goid storage capacity. It beats taking everything out of a top filled back pack to find something stashed at the bottom. The additional smaller back pack is ideal for taking out on day trips. Good quality strapping and zips. The functional strapping is a huge bonus for weight distribution, reducing the weight on your shoulders. Over-all a good backpack with good functionality for those that are a general traveller, e.g.not those climbing a mountain. If you are a bit more of an extreme traveller, then perhaps look for something more lightweight ๐

Perfect fit for a woman
Looking forward to wearing this on my next Interrail trip. 40l is the perfect size and I love how itโs a womanโs fit. Iโm 8 stones and 5ft3 and find it very comfortable, not at all bulky. Great features, such as the shoulder straps can be zipped away if it needs to go on an aircraft.

The perfect carry-on backpack
This is my wife's pack and I'll repeat what I said for the men's version: Back home after 26 days of living out of this pack and carrying it on trip across Europe. It held up beautifully. Fit into every carry-on and storage locker be it plane, train, or boat. Comfortable, functional, and plenty roomy. No complaints.
