Sailor Fountain Pen, SHIKIORI Sogetsu Soraba, Fountain Pen, Medium Point, 11-1224-302

I am tempted to knock off a star. There are streaks in the barrel but not the cap. I am not sure this streaked resin pattern pleases me. I thought mine was a factory second or something. Then I looked at photos online and I think I can see it in other pens although it is hard to see in pictures. Then pen does look good though. It is a very small pen. If you have a Pilot Prera or a Pilot Stargazer, this pen is almost the exact same size. This one has a screw cap and those other two snap on. The pen writes great and the nib looks really nice. I would prefer either a better swirl pattern in the barrel or no swirl at all but oh well.

This is my first sailor. I was expecting the medium fine nib but this felt more like a fine. I also thought sailors were supposed to have a bouncy feel. This definitely did not. I bought the white and green pens and both were scratchy. I was able to get my green one polished and tuned a tiny bit by a generous vendor at the pen show and it writes smoother now. The width is more like a twsbi fine.

The gold nib goodness. If you want to get a gold nib pen. This is a good starting point.

It's a Medium Fine, not Medium. Very dry, and not a great writing experience. Feels like a waste of a gold nib. But if you like those things, this pen is for you. I enjoy my gold nibbed Pilots much more.

I am absolutely thrilled with this pen (Sailor Pro Gear, 4 Seasons Edition Shiki-Oriori). They do an absolutely terrible job of naming their pens, but as far as I can tell this is essentially a novel color and nib size on the regular old Pro Gear Slim design, which I (now) love. I was nervous to get the "slim" size because I have relatively large hands, but this fits in my hand perfectly, and I could even write with it unposted if I wanted to. It is very lightweight, but it's pretty well-balanced and doesn't feel awkward. The highlight of the whole deal is the nib, which feels exactly like I was hoping it would—the famous Sailor feedback without any hint of scratchiness or unpleasantness. It feels similar to writing with a pencil: You can feel the implement moving across the paper, but it doesn't feel like anything's getting ripped up. If you're on the fence about picking up a Sailor, I absolutely recommend this as a comparatively inexpensive option.

The pen is nice but the Nib was sold as a Medium but the one I got was a Medium Fine. It is also scratchy and dry. It dose have a beautiful pearlescent quality to the color and it is on the small side but comfortable posted. If it would have been a medium nib I would have kept it and worked on the nib issues. It is a good value for the money but I already have several MF nibs and don’t need another.

Sailor pens and their nibs are reliable, good looking and well performing. This one is no exception. 14K XF nib writes well out of the box (although initial cleaning is always recommended). No skips, hard starts, etc. Moderately wet writer. Lovely deep green color, very attractive with the gold trim. Excellent price.

The shikiori green with black accents is a very beautiful pen a bit glitzy with a rich feel to it . The pro gear slim has a narrower barrel (Very usable ) , underweight with a short height which can be addressed if you use it capped . The m-f nib the right feel for a 14k , it does not scratch the paper . Barely 2 months of usage and the resin cracked and split at the base of the clip ! The pen was never dropped or misused , it cracked in my hand when I was cleaning up after refilling . Has sailor compromised on durability of its resin or was it a one off faulty pen which slipped thru QC . Am highly disheartened as the window of return has closed ( the pen was purchased 2 months ago ) Have never seen anything like this with any pen especially one which prides itself under a Japanese banner . The fountain pen was advertise as being a medium but was actually a medium fine. It turn out the default for this series is a medium fine. The pen is a little scratchy as expected for a Japanese medium fine nib but some adjustment on the nib by me and it became smoother. I expected it to get better once I break it in. Overall the looks are great and the finishing on it is much better than my Platinum Century. Amazon really needs to check its information. I'm fine with the pen and will not bother sending it back. After using a few days I notice a crack on the barrel. Very surprise with this quality issue . Never had this issue on my Platinum

I have another Sailor 14K medium nib that I had to tune to work well, so I was expecting to do the same with this pen. However, this one wrote like a dream right out of the box. The writing is smooth, with some feedback. The line is similar to a Western fine and is on the dry side. Most of my pens are gushers, but I also enjoy writing with finer nibs. The photos don't do justice to the pen's deep, dark forest colour. It's a new favourite pen that keeps me company. Love it!

Very poor quality cheap looking plastic finish that lets it down. Definitely not worth the money spent and come with a note in the box to say can't be returned once opened! It does NOT come with the cartridge converter which is usually standard with sailor pens. It's the pro gear slim so very small with typical sailor hard MF 14k gold nib. Overall extremely disappointed. My advice buy direct from a well-known pen retailer.
