EnerGel Alloy Retractable Gel Pen, Gold Barrel, Black Ink, Includes Gif Box (BL407XABX)

The pen itself is great, everyone at work compliments my pen, and the writing is great too. With that being said, the ink refills are horrendous. They leak way too often and I'm having to replace them way before they are close to running out. But hey, this is a review for the pen, not the refills. Like I said, great pen... atrocious refills.

MY STORY. Part 1 - the challenge: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the normal plastic-body Pentel EnerGel RTX pens, except for 3 things, a) the weight of the pen feels just a little too light to my grip, b) the plastic barrel of the pen is prone to cracking, which c) renders the screw-on metal tip unable to stay on, as the threads of the barrel onto which the tip screws are no longer flush due to the crack in the barrel. So I keep my plastic RTX's in a protective box and use them only at my desk or bedside. But I wanted to be able to use them ANYWHERE. Part 2 - the answer: The Alloy Retractable model, available in several colors. 1) the weight of the alloy pens is much beefier and feels more substantial in my grip (could be too heavy for some folks), 2) the barrel is metal and I've had NO issues with cracking, of course, so 3) the problem with tips not staying on is rendered moot. I'm writing this review for the GOLD color one, but I have silver, red and purple as well and love them all. BONUS: This pen arrives with BLACK ink, but I can swap out whatever colors I like, as the refills are the same as for the plastic RTX EnerGel pens. Highly recommend.

My favorite pen and I’ve spent years making that decision. Just no competition for me. The weight just feels perfect. The Energel gel ink cartridge is the smoothest flowing imho.

This pen writes really well and looks much more expensive than it is. the only slight draw back is the weight, its very light. Its original ink doesn't last very long, However, it can be replaced with better refills that make it feel like a $30 pen. I would buy the Gold colored version again and again. Well worth the money.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: I am a huge advocate of owning your favorite version of the tools you surround yourself with, and I honestly purchased this Pentel Energel Alloy because I wanted a pen that I would be careful not to lose and that could not be swiped by anyone else in the office. That was 4 years ago and I have since lost count of how many more I have purchased for myself and friends. Everybody thinks that my obsession with these pens are odd until they write with it. Weight: The weighted feel of these pens is second to none. I like my standard plastic Pentel Energel pens, but I LOVE my Alloys. The difference is immediately noticeable. Write quality: I have been using Pentel Energel pens for the past decade, and will continue to use them for many more. I have used every pen under the sun including the highly coveted Pilot G2s and Sharpie S-Gels, and the Pentel will hold my heart until the end of time. This is THE PEN.

Great pen, write really smooth. My only issue is they are not designed for moderate use. I had bought 6 of these pens because they grab your attention and all my coworkers look at them in awe, and tell me that they like the pens. So with that said the reason why it’s four stars and not five is because the pens show wear really fast which i do not like. The thumb cap is made from plastic so if you drop it accidentally it will break. I have had 2 of these pens fall off my desk at work and broke from a single drop. The durability of this item in this aspect is not there. Also if you use this pen as your main writing source the gold fades almost immediately. Now however, I absolutely love this pen and those things I can get past, I even bought 2 more because they are just that good at writing. Hopefully these next ones dont suffer the same fate as the other one did when they fell off my desk. Only time will tell. Great pen for writing though.

my favourite pen ever, recommend swap in a 1.0 ink refill instead of standard 0.7, writes so well so many compliments from clients. just make sure u dont drop it or else end cap will break off and render it useless ive bought multiple after i eventually breaking but its still a 5 stars for me as its such a good pen

Très agréable d'utilisation et il est rechargeable. Je connaissais déjà la marque Pentel et sa qualité. Je n'ai pas acheté ce stylo pour ce modèle en particulier, mais simplement parce que je voulais une stylo pas trop cher compatible avec ces cartouches d'encre. Leur mine est en métal et leur encre permet une écriture hyper fluide. C'est ce que je voulais et je recommande ce produit.
