Review: Fun book to color! (And “re-work”.) - So as my title for this review states, this is one of my fave coloring books so far. I love to “re-work” my coloring books using mixed media elements by adding my own drawn little touches etc. and Ghouliana and her crew are perfect for this. Wonderfully thick paper with an ivory/off-white tone complements the psychedelic color palette I prefer with this genre (horror and sci-fi themes). The pages take wet media like water-based markers, but not the more heavy-handed alcohol-based ones, unless you’re willing to make a “sacrifice “ of the back page…see what I did there? Other mediums I used are the Molotow Chrome silver marker to color the knife, Prismacolour Premiers wax-based pencils, Starjoy oil-based pencils, various brands of gel pens(glitter and matte/neon), Faber Castell pigment pitt pens, and a few Stabilo Point 88’s. (I have also glued together other pages of this book that I knew I could “sacrifice” in order to use those well-loved alcohol based markers, one of my preferred mediums.) I put stickers, use ink stamps, distressed inks, and my own cut-out drawings that I paste into it as well. However you may use it, this book ROCKS. Great quality although I wish the publisher (IDW) would sew the binding not glue it as I have had to tape pages along the binding together already as some pages began to fall out within a few days of recieving it…before I had even colored in any. I have another book by IDW which is a Dinosaur one (Smithsonian) also great quality with the same thick creamy paper but alas, it too came apart easily. Just FYI. Otherwise it’s a great book, 5 stars!!! It’ll be even better, IF they ever fix their gluey mess binding (IDW: hint hint). I am thinking of purchasing the 4th book sometime along the way. The art is quirky and oddly beautiful for the subject at hand, but then again I am a fan of most things Horror !!! Buy this book. You’ll have a ghoulishly great time.
Review: Luscious horror-packed coloring book! - 6*s+! Outstanding in every way! This is a deliciously dark serving of spooky, gory, Gothic eye candy (not for most kids, except perhaps Wednesday Addams) ~ The images are, well, scrumptious, but not for the faint of heart... They are clear, with nice dark lines, easy to see, probably a bit intimidating for a beginner colorist. The book quality is superb! About 10" by 10", 40 pages (including the amazing intro pages, like the name plate page), loads of pics. The paper is thick (like a thin cardstock) with a smooth, slightly toothy texture. So far, it's been perfect for colored pencils! & gel pens. The pages are double sided, so wet medium/alcohol pens may bleed. This book is well worth the surprisingly good price! I'm gonna give at least one as a gift, but the copy I just bought is all mine~ If you, or someone you know likes very dark humor, horror movies & is ok with gore, try this book! Again, it's really not intended for kids, at all...(it makes Edward Gorey art look tame). I'd suggest teen+. I'd have adored this book when I was a kid, but I was a weird little girl~

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Luscious horror-packed coloring book!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ More goregeous horror from Alan Robert
*by K***8 on October 24, 2021*

Well The Beauty of Horror II was not a disappointment at all. it was spot on horrifying as only Alan Robert can do. I sunk my teeth in and started coloring like crazy and loved every horrifying minute. some pictures reminded me of movies that I had seen, like the twin girls in the long hallway (The Shining). The paper is of good quality but the pictures are double-sided and you have to be careful what media you use to color your pictures. The art goes right into the binding as well, making it difficult to complete the picture. Other than those two items, I give this series a 5 star. The pictures exhibit a range of skill levels from easy to hard so anyone can color these wonderfully horrifying pictures in this 2nd installment of The Beauty of Horror. I'm off to color more, enjoy.
