I've successfully remembered all the kanji from this volume and can recall them pretty easily. I can honestly say these flashcards were a major part in that. Definitely buying the next two volumes. Features of the cards: - Size of the cards is just right, slightly bigger then an average credit card. - Easy on the eyes, not busy looking at all. - Features both on and kun readings, and the most common meaning in English on the back. - Gives similar Kanji on the front with their definitions. - Gives similar words on the back, great for vocabulary building. - Gives stroke order, very important. - Gives common ways the Kanji is used. - Study cards. They can be somewhat slippery but they're easy to use. Other then the cards themselves, there are unexpected extras. - This is kinda expected but it gives a slip with details of the cards and how to read them, it's simple, trust me. - Paper with index of all the Kanji included including stroke order index and yomi index. - Additional cards, one of them has both hiragana and katakana which is great for reference if you're still rusty. Other then that, it's packaged excellently and rubberbands are provided. :) I'd definitely recommend this for anyone that's serious about learning Japanese. Even if you're somewhat familiar with Kanji, this set is good for the extras especially if you want to expand your vocabulary. Review: Highest Quality / Most Useful - Now there we go... I'm learning some basic Kanji for an upcoming trip, and I was looking for some flashcards - these are beautiful cards, laminated with stroke order, useful phrases, and with the Kon and On pronunciations. Note that these cards do not have romanji - that is the romanized version of the pronunciation - thank goodness they don't waist any space with it... I've started learning japanese on my own about three weeks ago, by now I got my kana down, if you're ready to take on Kanji, you should be comfortable reading your kana - by the way, there was a cute laminated card with the Katakana and Hiragana on each side - quite nice actually. but good call on omiting the romanji. The operative kanji is located in the upper left in a huge font face. The stroke order is listed in a series of step-by-step pictures below the kanji. Perhaps most helpfully, various uses of the kanji are located to the right of the operative kanji, which makes practicing the various readings quite easy. Just as importantly, these cards are built to last. They are the equivalent of high quality, laminated playing cards: thick, wear-and-tear resistant, and they shuffle easily. The only flaw I can even imagine with these cards is that the stroke order doesn't indicate the point of origin (that is, you can see each step-by-step stroke, but it doesn't indicate if you start on, say, the left hand side and move to the right or vice versa). I had reason to contact the company about some replacement cards, and they responded quickly, helpfully, and without reservation. A company that actually stands by its products? What a relief! I already ordered the next box of kanji, and I fully expect to eventually graduate to the massive JLPT level 1 kanji set offered by White Rabbit.
