Would this work for a 1x2 space, including flower?

Yes! Honestly, I love it. It's full spectrum so yes, you can use for flower. It wont work for anything bigger than a 2.5 x 2.5 space, but anything less than that and you are good to go. Its brighter than you would think so plants respond VERY well. Hope this helps.

Can I hang it from a ceiling using an appropriate anchor? I don't have a grow tent or any bar - is that necessary in order to be able to hang/adjust?

A grow tent is not needed I have just hanged it from the ceiling before
