Does Kilmat acts as a heat barrier?

Kilmat 50 mil does reduce the noise, rattles and vibrations of the metal of the car. It does possess thermal insulation properties as well but to significantly lesser extent. Its primary designation is vibration control. We recommend you to look for some closed cell foam materials for heat insulation.

Will 50 sq.ft. cover the full trunk of a 78 buick regal

50 sq ft is a 10x5 area so yes it will. You should have plenty left over for another area

For application to underside of car hood, should I also use a spray adhesive?

There should not be a problem adhering Kilmat 50 mil to the underside of the hood without using additional spray adhesive, thus we do not recommend any additional spray adhesives. Make sure to clean and degrease the surface prior to installation.

If I'm taking the carpet out of my vehilce to put the Vinyl flooring, would this be going under it ?

I assume that you are talking about replacing your auto carpet with a factory preformed vinyl mat. Regardless, this product will assist in "quieting" down the road noise and heat from your vehicle. Yes, it should be applied directly to your stripped and clean floor board to get a better adhesion. After installing, lay your new vinyl mat down and secure at the door sill. I used this material in the roof, inside the doors and the back wall of the cab of my 61' Ford unibody pickup. It's amazing the difference how effective the KILMAT performs. I highly recommend it !
