First it does light up very bright but you need to go fast or have more than one to get patterns. Since this is for a 6 year old I would need 2. There are many other lower prices options that give you more than one.I might have stayed with this brand but no on/off switch is a pain. You have to take the battery out every time. That in itself makes me not like this product. The instructions claim it turns off when its light out or not in motion for period of time. This is not true at all for mine. Soon as I put the battery in it light right up. It was Bright sunny Saturday afternoon. The light automatically turns on with movement and has an automatic shut off that turns it off after inactivity.
