I bought 4 of these to try out because a neighbour recently had his house broken into. I have now ordered another 8 to finish the job properly. I do not know if they will stop a really determined burglar (using a crowbar or similar), but they do give me peace of mind that a burglar cannot simply break the lock on the UPVC door and walk in, which is what they did at my neighbours house.I was not aware how insecure the so-called secure locking UPVC doors are until my neighbours break in. The burglars simply bent the lock surround up, then put a big pair of plyers around the lock barrel and ripped it out. This rendered the 5-point locking system useless, allowing the door to simply be opened. I have since seen this done in Facebook video!These cheap, simple and easy to fit devices prevent the door from being opened if the lock is removed. Of course, as I said, if somebody has a crowbar (or similar device) they may well be able to jimmy the door and break them, but I feel confident that somebody will not be able to get the door open by yanking and tugging on the door handle if two of the devices are fitted on a door (4 on double French doors).One issue. The devices are supplied with small, clear plastic spacers that go between the device and the door (see picture). These are too small. The device is not a piece of solid metal, it is hollow, and the spacer slips under the side when you tighten the screws. I solved this problem by super-glueing the spacers to the device before attaching them to the door.Another minor issue is that, how tightly the door closes dictates whether or not the spacer and/or insert can be used. Of the four devices I fitted, I was only able to use the spacer AND insert (as is) on one of them. I had to fit one device without the spacer or insert, another with just the spacer. I managed to use the spacer and insert on the last one, but I had to reduce the thickeness of the insert by filing it. This was not a major problem, but necessary to ensure the devices locked tightly against the door frame.
