These are absolutely awesome and give a feeling of wonder to everyone who sees them! I have had my own for about 2 years now and gave one as a gift to my partner about a year ago. We both keep them in our offices, so we get constant compliments and inspire curiosity and joy as people watch it respond, move, dance to voices and music. It honestly looks just how it does in videos of it -- super cool and a little out of this world! I love seeing it even after two years and it works beautifully, was easy to setup, and remains just as responsive, clean (the glass is clear), and interesting to this day!!

This thing is super fun. I keep it on my desk and talk to it to make it dance when I’m bored. I let it charge overnight and then during the workday it runs on battery all day no problem (~9 hours generally). I turn it away a lot so that people who come into my office are greeted by it and it’s been a big hit. People love it and it’s even diffused some stressful situations. Great conversation starter. The ferrofluid itself is very reactive to the magnets and when it really gets going, it likes to split apart into smaller forms and then reform later. It’s a ton of fun to watch. One caveat to all of this: the first one I ordered had a manufacturing defect (dark line across the width of the white backing circle) and suboptimal ferrofluid reactivity. I exchanged it and the replacement was perfect, so no harm no foul.

My son wanted a ferrofluid bottle for Christmas and I didn't think it was that big a deal. He let me know right before Christmas that was one of the things he really wanted. So I ordered a cheap $30 ferrofluid bottle. But then I saw this and thought, "Maybe this will be cool too." Boy was I right!! He LOVES this gift and while it wasn't super cheap, it was by far and away his most appreciated gift and I felt really good about it because it showed I was listening and I went above and beyond what he had asked for. That said, how well does it work. It is pretty solid. You aren't going to get wild, bottle filling gyrations, but it does dance with music or talk. It responds very well to lower frequencies. And it is very neat that it has a battery, so when you unplug it and haul it around, you don't have to plug it in again to get it to work. This is a really clever design, would be great for a science teacher, and for any science minded person who "has everything."

It's attractive and worked nicely for almost 24hrs. However, this one leaks whatever the clear fluid is! From the rapidly appearing crystals it appears salt like. It arrived in an undamaged package but the leaking may have caused it to malfunction. It no longer works.

My son received this for Christmas and it worked for about a month. 1- I have a blob that doesn’t react or move. It’s looks like a smudge or something ruptured inside. 2- I have this clear brownish bubble that pops out from the top. 3- lack of communication trying to get this resolved or replaced I really love the concept of the ferrofluid. Like many things having fair expectations is a must. At the end of the day my son enjoys it and I find myself playing with it. Update: reached out to the seller. They replaced the device. Great communication and willing to resolve the issue.

This thing is so cool… My son loved it and unfortunately it stopped working… However, the customer service was great and took care of everything! Really quick reply and fast shipping! You must have this… It’s a staple in our household now when music is on…

Keep in mind, this is NOT a speaker. The listing DOES say it's not a speaker somewhere too. But anyway, I've tried tons of audio visualizers over the years, and it just seems like nothing really goes with the music. At least, no so that you can really tell it does. Some kind of go with the music, but nothing compares to how well this ferrofluid goes with it. You can use the magnet it comes with to play with it while it's turned off, but the real magic happens when it's turned on and close enough to an audio source. Which brings to mind the only real downside, in my opinion. To detect the audio that makes the ferrofluid move, there's a mic on the back. And while it still detects audio pretty well, at this price point it would be nice if it had the ability to increase and decrease the mic's sensitivity. Other than that, it comes with a cord with a regular USB-A connection on one side and a USB-C connection on the other side. No little power brick that plugs into the wall, but that's pretty standard these days. Also, the cord isn't something that's just to provide power that needs to be plugged in all of the time. No, it's actually for recharging this device, which means it CAN be operated wirelessly. And one more thing. If you order this and it comes with a big ugly air bubble in it, just put in for a replacement and it should be replaced with no problem. Sure, it's aggravating to have to do that, but I promise it's worth it. I just wish Amazon would quit putting their stickers on the actual product boxes of everything they ship, that has the kind of adhesive on it that can only be described as, "Evil."

Updated Review: Below is my original review, but I’d like to update it. Since posting, the seller contacted me and offered me the choice of either a refund or a replacement. I chose the replacement because I truly think this product is awesome. The seller not only sent me a replacement but also insisted that I keep the original defective product. Even though it has a flaw, the original is still quite usable. I really appreciate the seller’s dedication to excellent customer service, and I applaud their efforts to make things right. Thank you! Also have a defective piece. Just my luck it has the brown oily particle which I believe was the ferrofluid that got decomposed. Due to that parts floating nature it covers the top opening which messes with how the non defective fluid reacts to external sound. Please customer support can you contact me for a replacement I’ll gladly send this one back.

Works but not as I expected, looks nice, but not worth the money.
