The material does not feel or look like a plastic bag. It almost feels like suede. Ran water over the sleeve and the material is waterproof by that test. The stitching is good. The zipper for the removable inner liner is opens and closes smoothly. The inner lining has full length sleeves. The buttons are well attached. Thereโs a zippered inside breast pocket that had three extra buttons in a bag. Iโm a skinny guy 5โ9โโ 135 lbs (Mounjaro) size 40 suit coat and 29x32 pants. The slim cut (they call it โmodern fitโ) overcoat in size 40 looks perfect with my suit coat underneath, not too tight, not too baggy. Sleeves a little long, will probably have them shortened. The length is about 5 inches below my knees which is fine for me. Hmmm, Chinese quality is getting better. Review: Big Guy Approved - As a big guy (6' and of no meager proportion around the middle), finding a nice trench coat can be a little difficult. I love having something that I can wear that looks nice for events and work but can also go a little more casual. I love that it has a full length liner. The liner makes it truly a three season coat in most climates. I live in Alaska and have been able to wear it through the end of our winter (it's been mild but still frequently below freezing) and into the early days of our springs. I have not removed the liner yet to see the difference in the weight and warmth but I'm sure it'll still be great on our incoming drizzly, grey, windy days. The belt is a great length and is easy to adjust and will even self adjust a little with wear. I can easily tie the belt or use it like a traditional belt. I was not expecting a suede feel to the material. I was honestly in the market for a more traditional trench material, but the suede like material is a very nice option. It seems to be very well made and should last with minimal repairs being required. I'm always prepared to have to sew a button back on but they seem to be sewn on pretty well from the factory. It seems to be fairly good at being water repellent. I haven't had the chance to wear it in the rain yet, but it has done a good job with snow and drips from melting snow so far. Over all for a nearly $200 trench its a very good investment.

an impeccably crafted steal -- runs big and warm
This is just a superbly crafted overcoat. Impeccable workmanship throughout, excellent fabric (wind-/water-proof, stain resistant, fine as silk to the touch), fine fabric inside with button-in liner, and elegant lines. I can't believe the price! Don't make the mistake I did -- it's not Amazon Prime -- but get the sizing right. In EU suits, I wear a 40S; in US suits, 38R. Although made in China, this coat is of Italian design. So I thought a 40S would do. Not so: it was like a tent (I'm 5' 9" / 150 lbs). So I paid UPS to expedite it back -- no free returns -- and ordered the 38R. Even it is slightly over-sized but not unfashionably. The coat runs on the large size. It also runs warm, as another commenter has noted. He had it in Japan. I'll have it -- without liner -- in subtropical climates (rainy season, very windy) for a while -- it'll be low 50s F at night and, without the liner, this coat will be just right for me in terms of warmth. But during the day, in the low 70s with seasonal torrents, I'd be broiling. With the liner in, I could brave a Chicago winter, I'm confident. For the workmanship, style and sure durability of this coat it's a steal at this price!

Suitable for vegans - Nice looking but lower quality construction.
This is a lighter, lined 100% cotton / synthetic / microfiber (?) trenchcoat. It has a matte black finish and is OK for some colder weather but I wear a fleece vest over my suit coat as well in the Chicago cold. Iโm 6โ5โ and have plenty of room to fit the extra bulk of my suit coat, fleece, etc. Itโs a nice looking, smooth jacket overall. Unfortunately a button already came off within the first week of ownership. Quality is OK - obviously not great - but thatโs expected at this price point. No animal products that I can tell on the jacket so itโs suitable for vegans - which can be a hard find for dress jackets.

Stylish and great quality
I purchased this coat for my college son who needed an overcoat for his suit in the cold. I am a seamstress and I could see it was very well made, the quality was very good. It has a lining that can be removed if it is just needed for a rain coat. We had to return it due to being too large. He is a football player/weight lifter and not sure how big to order. I returned the too big coat and ordered another. We are looking forward to getting it. Thank you for such a nice looking product a 19 year old thought looked really sharp.

The overall coat is excellent.
I you are walking around The coat fits wonderfully. When sitting for more than 5 minutes Take the coat off. I kave the Charcoal color. It looks black to me. Styled like a london Fog raincoat with a zip out liner. They eun a littl large but of you are wearing a suit jacket youll need the space.

Front buttons not sewn properly on 2 coats; come off after only 3 days of wear.
[EDIT: I had ordered a second coat, one size down, which just now arrived the day after my original review, below. Even new and unworn, this second coat arrived with defective button sewing, apparent when you look closely (see photos 2-4). Wish I had noticed that before removing the tags and wearing the first one, which apparently makes it ineligible for free returns according to the stated policy on Amazon. Now my options are to pay someone to properly affix the buttons, or to try to fight for a seller-reimbursed return, meanwhile needing a warm coat for the current cold weather. Unfortunately this appears to be a significant quality control issue for this manufacturer.] The coat is plenty warm but, after only three days of light wear, two of the front buttons are already coming off. This is not from stress or overuse -- the coat fits me loosely, and I have only worn it going to and coming from work for three days (meaning a total of 6 buttonings/unbuttonings). They buttons were not sewn properly and are just unraveling on their own (see the first photo), but the stated return policy is only for unused items still in packaging. This is unacceptable. Other more minor quibbles that I could have looked beyond, if not for the buttons: The coat runs a bit large and long, as others have noticed (I wear a 41L suit, but a 40R is the correct size in this coat). Also, the belt has a buttoned strip on the underside (usually included to keep the belt attached to the jacket), but there is no double belt loop on the coat (a smaller loop within the larger belt loop) for the strip to unobtrusively attach to, as all of my prior overcoats have had. Both belt loops are just single loops. Thus, the only way for the strip to attach to the coat would be to wear the belt inverted, with the unsightly strip and button on the outside, attached to the single loop, which looks stupid. Basically they have only included one half of the mechanism that most overcoats usually include to keep the belt from being separated from the coat.

I'd buy it again
I just received the coat today and have yet to wear it in the rain. I may amend this review after a few months, but on first impression the coat is excellent. It came on a hanger, covered in plastic, inside a box folded neatly. The outer fabric is this really soft microfiber type material. The jacket looks to be good quality inside and out. I'm 5'11" size 40R. I bought this with the expectation of wearing my suit jacket under the coat and wanted it to go to about my knuckles. It fits just as expected. If you plan to wear this on its own you may want to go down a size and possibly go for the S in order to fit a bit more stylish. It may be a bit warm to wear in 80 degree humid and rainy summer mornings, but I'm not sure the alternative, a plastic rain slicker, would look all that appealing. So far it seems like a great value and I really like it.

Good quality
Really quality product. Unfortunately the size was wrong, seems European scale bit different from US and it was well too large, so needed to return. Pity, I would gladly keep it.
