Great Replacement Smart Home Thermostat
Extremely easy installation and set up, though I replaced a Honeywell device and the wiring was exactly the same. The Honeywell App is easy and intuitive and works anywhere you have access from your phone. Once you set it up you can enable the unit on Alexa for simple temp control. The display is very well illuminated and easy to read. Programming is also very simple and easy to change. The temperature regulation appears to be very accurate.

Very Nice Thermostat
My old thermostat was just On/Off, Heat/Cool and Old. I'm slowly turning my home into a Smart Home, and this fit my needs prefectly. It fits very close to the wall, has a great display, very easy to install and set up. It has so many different features. It allows you to change temperature temporarily, like when you have company and you want to lower or raise temperature during their visit, but return to your normal setting after they leave without having to manaully adjust it back or forget to. You can set multiple timers/schedules, reminders for annual service and filter changes. The display can be adjusted for brightness and you can change the background color. Once connected to wifi it displays outside conditions and humidity levels inside and out. You can download their app and control it with your phone. Also, it works great with Alexa. First night after installing I was able to adjust temp by telling Alexa instead of getting out of bed ๐ Great product, good price and highly recommend.

I got it working ok, now it's great.
I have reservations about giving this five stars, but..... it is a beautiful thermostat that was easy to install. It controls perfectly. The HVAC guy who replaced my air handler told me get a Honeywell. I wanted one that auto switched between cooling and heating. We also wanted a nice display. It does both. The temperature display is huge. I can read it across the room in the dark. It also can be controlled from multiple smart phones and computers. Pretty handy if you are in bed or traveling. The connection plate has a good layout that is easy to use, read, and get wires to. Big plus! Once you snap it on the plate it is a bear pulling off again. You better have secure mounting screws or you will pull them out. This looks like it does not have battery back up, but uses capacitors. They won't keep your program for a year, but probably a few weeks without power, and you never have to change them. I think that is good enough. So why lower marks. First of all I had to call customer service for advice. I was on hold for an hour and a half! That's pathetic. I think after five minutes customer service lines, particularly ones in India, ought to start putting money in your phone account like a reverse 900 number. By the time I got this lady from Punjab online I had read the rather thorough manual cover to cover and figured it out. So here were the problems. The setup never talks about automatic switching between heating and cooling. Plus it is not on the mode menu. No, you have to go to preferences, then advanced preferences and in there you can turn it on. It is way back in the manual.. Why do they want to deter you from doing one of the main features to buy a $170 thermostat for? That's BS too! FYI you have to have at least a 3 degree difference between heat and cool settings. That seems reasonable. This is our third Smart WiFi thermostat. We had a Nest in our old house. They are really nice, but sell your conversations from the microphone to the highest bidder. The nest is cake walk to set up. The other was a refurbished Emerson Electric that could not turn on the emergency heat. We returned it. Both this one and the Emerson read the room temperature way high. Like 4 degrees high. What is that about? We can read the temperature in a crater on the moon from Earth within a tenth degree, you can't get this right?Anyway they have an adjustment in the settings to correct this. This one was off 4 degrees. I mean I am an instrumentation engineer. I have got more thermometers than NASA. I know what it should be. The problem is they only have a plus or minus 3 degree adjustment. I think it is in degrees Centagrade (1.8ยฐF), because 3 degrees overcorrected for the 4 degree error. I dropped the correction to 2 degrees C, now its perfect I just don't get how they screw this up. It really is a nice thermostat, once you get the quirks beat out of it. We have had it for a few weeks now. I love in more than once I got it working right. It is rock steady holding temperature. If it gets off by more than 3ยฐF low it throws on the emergency electric heating. That happened when I first turned it on and it was cold. I love the external (internet) temperature display. It has text telling you what mode it is in.

Easy install, setup, and scheduling
Been using this for about a week now, keeping a close eye on this thermostats operation, and after reading the manual that covers all the smart tech, am pretty happy with its operation. They look nice, can dim pretty low so not to be a problem at night, and work well with Alexa to change the temp. The scheduling has lots of options, including the fan circulate feature that runs the blowers for a little while each hour. My gripes so far revolve around the associated app, and minimal Alexa features. The App doesn't display correctly for me. I am running a Razer Phone with Android 8.1; so maybe that can help the devs make it look better. The temperature selection area is cut off, and some of the options for the scheduling and their "store" are showing up as broken image links. It also forces landscape mode, so I cannot access the portrait mode that apparently has more options for controlling the thermostat. The scheduling portion of it is also weird; you can set your schedule up line by line, which works fine. If you go to the part where you select S, M, T, W, T, F, S, when you hit done it asks if you want to set up another day; choosing no does nothing, where choosing yes kind of saves your progress but brings up another weekly schedule. You have to hit the 'back' button on the phone then hit submit, and it works. It just doesn't flow very well. Otherwise the app does look nice, and it is user intuitive. It doesn't allow screenshots though, which I find a bit weird. Perhaps the broken features are a result of my VPN and PiHole blocking advertisements. Alexa integration is for changing the temp only. It works well, and the schedule picks back up to put things back to normal after the voice changed temp. What I'd really like is to also be able to control the AC system's fan to go on and off, but this isn't necessary as it's already scheduled to circulate. All in all, these are good devices. I have yet to monitor their internet traffic (when I get free time I'll capture their C2 traffic and see how that looks) which I've read must go to a Honeywell server in order to use the remote features. Makes sense, but I'd be happier knowing what data is on the wire.

Easy to read from across the room.
After one month, we are very happy with the Honeywell Home Thermostat. Easy to read from across the room, straight forward programming. We set it for 76 during the day and 73 for sleeping and rarely touch it now. Nice to be able to control it from anywhere. Having the local outside temperature displayed another plus. Installation went well on our geothermal heat pump system.

Good when it works, but unreliable
The thing that keeps this from being a 5-star product is the unreliability of Honeywell's servers which connect to the thermostat to allow remote control. All communication between apps and the thermostat are routed to Honeywell's servers, which are frequently unresponsive. I know it's not a local problem because it occurs with multiple thermostats in multiple geographic locations simultaneously. The worst part about it is that you don't get any kind of failure message - it acts as if everything is fine and gives you false readings so you think it's working. Here's what happens: You use an app (web page, phone/tablet app, or Alexa) to change the thermostat setting, and Honeywell's servers report that the command was executed. In reality, the servers don't actually send the command to the thermostat - the command just gets queued. If you use the app to query the current thermostat settings, Honeywell will tell the app that the current settings are the ones in the unexecuted command rather than actually reading the thermostat itself. So you will think that the thermostat is set as requested, but in fact it was never changed. Then, hours later, Honeywell will eventually send the backlogged commands to the thermostat, overriding any manual adjustments that you may have made in the meantime. So you can never rely on the thermostat to be where you set it, even if you set it manually. During those times when Honeywell has their act together, requested changes are made with seconds and it's very convenient. Unfortunately, they frequently have problems as described above, and you may have to wait one or more days before they get it working again. These problems are well known and documented in internet complaints going back a long time. So it's not a rare, one-off problem. The potential of this product is great, and it's wonderful when everything works. But it's ruined by the frequent problems and the fact that it never lets you know when there is a problem - you just discover on your own that the thermostat isn't where you set it, and you never know when a backlogged command is suddenly going to come through and override your manual setting. Update 1/20/19 - The problems with the Honeywell server seem to be happening more often, with longer outages. Several months ago they sent an email to their customers apologizing for the problems and promising that the problem would be fixed ASAP. That never happened, and there is no reason that they will ever get their act together. Consequently, I'm downgrading this review to 1 star and I'm now looking for another, more reliable brand. Sorry to say, this thing is an expensive waste of money since Honeywell can only deliver empty promises instead of reliable service. Update 1/21/19 - As if to prove my point, Honeywell just sent out another email today. Now they're saying that their continuing outages will be intentional in order to facilitate unspecified "upates". In other words, they're aware of the problem and it's not going away anytime soon. I really recommend you go with a different brand. Here's the relevent excerpt from their email: Our services will undergo planned maintenance over the next few weeks. Start Date: January 22, 2019 Weโre performing an update to our software and services to improve your experience and maintain your security. Our servers will undergo maintenance over the next few weeks, and you may experience brief intermittent connectivity. Our updates will begin taking place on January 22, and run throughout February. The downtime will be used to maintain the platform, perform upgrades, and help ensure the continued integrity and security of our services to our users. During this time, your thermostat will continue to work, but you may temporarily experience an inability to remotely manage it via your app. Update 7/6/19 - In case you were wondering if Honeywell ever got their act together, the answer is still "No". Six months later, the problem still exists. So much for the so-called "improvements" that they promised back in January. Their servers are currently down, and attempts to connect result in the following error message: "Server Error in '/portal' Application. Runtime Error. Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated. " Seriously, I recommend you go with a different brand. Honeywell is hopeless. Update 1/17/26: Six years later, and nothing has changed. They continue to have random outages of their online server, and they just announced an upcoming 76-hour outage for alleged upgrades. That's right - more than three full days that it will be unusable except by manual control. Don't waste your money on this piece of junk with non-existent support.

Easy install. Trusted brand. High quality
Previously had three Nest thermostats over 2-3 years. All broke within a few months. This appears to be far better quality, has all the same features, less complicated, and looks nicer. I purchased a backplate separately which makes it look cleaner on the wall. Easy set-up, too.

Very Happy So Far
I have only had this installed for 3 days now. So far I am very pleased with it. We have a 2 stage heat pump in Florida. Unlike my previous Trane T-stat this thermostat keeps a constant temperature at exactly what I set it to. I want to give some advice on installing it. I failed my first attempt because I put all the wires through the opening and tried to push them in place (FAILED). I had 7 wires to push on the terminals, 5 on one side and 2 on the other. My advice is to strip the jacket back so you have 5 to 6" of wire. Untangle them, straighten them out and starting from top to bottom put them through the opening one at a time. I did the 5 side first then the 2 side. As some have reported I have no problem with pushes on the screen. But just in case I set a rubber tipped stylus on top of the thermostat. I also have had no problem with app connections on my computer or phone to the thermostat. I will report back if I start having any issues.

Works with Amazon Alexa
Installation was easy other than getting it set-up with the Honeywell account. I'm using it at work for a radiant tube heater. The device wasn't detected at Honeywell even though it connected to the Internet no problem. I actually left it for several months because I didn't have time to reset it to factory defaults and start over again. This is for my shop at work and the guys needed heat. So I just got around to trying again about a month ago and it is recognized now (without resetting to default). Not sure when it was recognized on my Honeywell account, might have been 2 hours later, 2 weeks later, 2 months later. Don't know because I just checked it again recently. LOL. So not sure I would hold that against them. Once it was recognized on my Honeywell account then it worked great through the app and web page; exactly as expected. Today I decided to connect it to my Amazon Alexa devices we have scattered around the office and shop. Downloaded the skill and it works great. Very simple to use. "Alexa what is the temperature in the SHOP?", "Alexa set the SHOP to 70 degrees." Works perfectly and very quickly. I like it so much that I came on here to give a review and also to buy another for the office. I read a review where someone who bought this wasn't happy with the screen. Made me take a second look at mine. It is dull when its not in use but as soon as you press the screen it brightens up. You can see this in 2 of the pictures I attached. Everything is personal preference of course and I'm not discounting what the other buyer said, but I find the screen looks great. Full disclosure, this is my first smart thermostat so I'm not comparing it to anything else.
