The 12oz is all any machinist will need!
Hammer is perfect. I work in CNC machining. It perfect for stamping part numbers or for using with hand punches. The Head is VERY secured to handle. The handle is very light so don't put a lot of force in the swing when you first start it out. This is a plus for those who don't have the arm strength or who have to use it repetitivly day after day and don't want to wear themselves out everyday. Be accurate and let the weight of the head to the work for you. I am sure the rubber grip will eventually get soft and 'unglue' from the handle with all the coolant and oil used with CNC machining. But that could takes years and the rubber grip absorbs 90% of the vibration from impact. the durable plastic of the top half of the handle will hold up if you miss your mark and smack it off anything. It doesn't splinter like wood, it's really hard material. Even smacking it off the undeburred edge of Inconel does do anything more than a very shallow line. No torn plastic.

Its a nice hammer
Nice small hammer. I bought the 12oz. You won't be building your shed with this, its a small hammer. Perfect for use with a center punch, that type of thing. A precision job type hammer. Nicely finished I must say.
