No. Back has openings for cord that would leak.

To heat or cook, you plug in the device, place food container inside and zip it closed. The answer to the question is yes. I have been using this device since 2020 and it still works great.

Hack?? Not sure what you are asking. However, This is a great product. I have used mine for over two years and I absolutely love it. I am super glad that I ordered it. It takes about one hour for full meal to heat thoroughly.
