Does this require Control test solution & Control test strips?

Accepted Answer

Control solution is not a mandatory step in your calibration process. This is the reason why we did not include a control solution in the Bruno MD6 package. However, each time you open a new box of ketone strips you need to calibrate your meter by using the code strip provided to you. Code strip can be found in your Bruno MD6 kit and has a number on top.

Question 2

Need help pairing the device. I can't get past the screen requesting meter number. The device is paired but it does not populate number.

For starters, ensure that your device is paired via Bluetooth. From your phone's Bluetooth, pair with the device. Once the pairing is done (your phone shows the Bruno as a paired Bluetooth device) open the software and bottom right click on the Settings gear. In the resulting menu, select Bluetooth Smart Meter. Under current meters you should see the Bruno device. Click back to get to main screen. Take a Keto measuring. After taking a measuring and removing the keto stick, your device will blink rapidly (blue light). This is the device attempting to sync with your phone and upload results. On your phone, open the App. Sometimes i have to open the app and close it 2 times. On the screen you'll then see a message importing results.

can you use a glucose monitor and use the keto strips?

Our Bruno MD6 Multi-Functional Monitoring System is intended for use in the quantitative measurement of glucose and β-ketone(beta-hydroxybutyrate) in fresh capillary whole blood from the finger. The glucose and β-ketone testing are based on the  measurement of electrical current generated by the reaction of glucose and β-ketone with the reagent of the strip. However, in order to test your ketones you cannot use our Bruno MD6 glucose test strips. Instead, you have to use Bruno MD6 ketone strips. Bruno MD6 ketone test strips are individually foil-wrapped. I am looking for device that tests sugar and ketones at the same time. I dont want to have to stick myself twice, does this tester do that?

Hi, 
we will be more than happy to answer to your question. The Bruno MD6 monitoring system is enable to measure glucose and ketone levels at the time. The multifunctional monitoring system is actually enabled to measure 6 parameters in total: Glucose, Ketones, Hematocrit, Hemoglobin, Uric Acid, and Total Cholesterol. This is why it is called MD6. We are currently waiting for the 510 (K)s to be approved by the FDA. As soon as we receive FDA approval, we will be able to sell specific strips that will allow measurement of all parameters. 
However, all these parameters must be taken with different test strips. As far as we know, there are no monitoring systems in the world that allow you to take both parameters at the same time because the technology behind is different. For example, the Bruno MD6 glucose strip has 2-Well Technology with 2 enzymes on the strips to get HCT value and glucose value. The HCT value is determined and used to compensate and correct for glucose value for a fast and accurate test. While the The Bruno MD6 ketone strip has a live enzyme called Hydroxybutyrate Dehydrogenase. This enzyme catalyzes the chemical reaction of BoHB, and acetoacetate. As you may know in order to receive an exact ketone testing accuracy result, your blood level has to show not only how much acetoacetate is in your system, but also how much BoHB is in your system. BoHB is commonly called D-B-hidroxybutyrate and it is the important ketone body that your body converts to fuel the brain and muscles providing extreme accuracy to your testing results.
