Milescraft 1403 Saw Guide

A good product. Works with both right hand and left hand circular saws. Well worth the price. Well thought out.

I used this to rip 2x10’s down to a standard width for a deck that had a beam underneath, and the height of the joists was important to me. My only complaint is that the red part of the guide bar is not quickly reversible, to allow it to be on either the left or right side of the saw. Also, the instructions lead you to configure it for the right side, which limits your rips to about 8 inches, and places your saw away from the rip. I took the screws out of the red part and reversed it, to allow the guide bar to be on the left side, which increases the rip width to about 13 inches, and places the saw over the top of the rip, which is more stable for trimming 2x10’s. When I first opened the box of this tool I was a little wary based on the somewhat plasticky and inexpensive feel and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to get it to fit securely to my Dewalt cordless circular saw base plate. After assembly and a little fiddling I was able to confidently get it secured and I have since been using it to rip a small amount off of replacement doors in our home. With this tool and a new saw blade, it has done a pretty flawless job. Every cut has been smooth and even and pretty easy to keep straight. For a budget tool that I needed essentially just for these door installs, it has been pretty good.

I purchased this thinking it would help me make straight cuts with my jigsaw. I t's very cheap plastic material and even the tightening knobs are plastic. So many different parts on it that are each a potential for failure or error. The tightening knobs seem to tighten fine but the screws which hold onto the jigsaw slowly unscrew on their own as you are cutting which in my case created far worse cuts than I can do by hand with major errors up to an inch off the line. Ruined several builds of mine and the wood as well. Also at one point became so loose that the blade cut into the plastic housing itself. Im just happy I still have all of my fingers, but I cannot recommend this item with a good conscience. If you are looking for a tool to help with straight lines look elsewhere.

Poorly written instructions and difficult to see pictures on this purchase. Needed 2 people to figure out how it was supposed to fit on jigsaw, and discovered that it can barely be held in place on my corded Ryobi orbital variable speed saw. Seems to fit more easily on older lower end saws with flat top shoes. Almost afraid to try using on the expensive wood I need to cut, so no great review for this Milescraft product. Even if it works, I cannot recommend it for jigsaw unless you are ready to return if you can't make it fit safely. On the other hand it works fine on my 7/14 circular saw so its not a total loss. I will try to modify this unit to secure on my jifaw, but that is not a happy effort on my part. Since other "universal fits" all seem to be the same, it is worthy of average rating, but no more.

So not very stable, takes a while to line up and a bit of tweaking to make hold. I just made my own. Price was too high for something not that good.

Good tool

Although this is made mostly out of plastic and is super light, it seems to be perfectly alligned with my Cordless Dewaly (had to remove the plastic glider part). Drill seems very well secured, the guide is easily adjusted. I'm really impressed :)
