What an inept character!
I am so disappointed with this book, it took me at least two weeks to finish the book. I love All of the author's book except this one for sure. There is a lot of inconsistencies, the character is weak clueless, and inept....She is almost as bad as John snow of game of thrones lol. Anyways the book just drags on about hBo running around with kimchi the dog to accomplish absolutely nothing. The part that really bothered me is towards the end of the book there are a couple of parts that doesn't make any sense spoiler alert "I drop the phone and crunch it under my heel. I hear Michael’s voice for a second, a disembodied sound that’s frantic and pleading. When the phone is finally silent, I stand up" then a page later when she is at the rave she magically gets her phone out of her pocket and makes a call. "I take out my phone and find the number I need. When someone answers, I speak brusquely." It seems that the phone was put in a time bubble to appear in her pocket again!! I think the author should take a little longer writing the next book and trying to make Bo into a better investigator.

Filler
This felt like a filler novel. It wasn't bad but it wasn't good. I will admit to being over Bo's constant stumbling and sputtering through life. By now she should at least have some self direction. And some PI skills since she was a PI as a human. I didn't feel like this book advanced anything much, to be frank. I hope the fifth one is better.

Excellent read
This book is the best so far in this series and I can't wait for more. It was action packed, suspenseful, and has a plot that keeps you guessing. There is a very clear fight between good and evil among the different sects of society and within the main character herself. As she is confronted with more and more in her life, she too becomes more and more complex. The main character's black and white viewpoint expressed at the beginning of Dire Straits is long gone. This series truly is excellent.

Filler
I usually enjoy this series & will likely continue it. That said I really felt this book was published as filler & didn't add much to the series arc. I found reading it a chore & wasn't overly invested in the plot. Don't misunderstand something are accomplished but we could have easily reached the same conclusion in a short story.

A bump in the road...
Sorry Ms Harper, but this was my least favourite book in the series..._The main question in this book is the whereabouts of a half-demon billionaire, whose story began in the last book. this plot angle was a letdown for me as the answer became very obvious less then half-way through the book, so from that point on I was bored waiting for the characters to catch up and figure it out. Even worse to me was the who and why; it is a pet peeve to have bad guys pop up at the last minute and conveniently spill the beans.Add in a B plot of a suspected drug dealing vampire that begins at the very start of the book, before then being dropped and going forgotten until the last minute, and you have a book that feels rushed. Also; Bo annoys me a bit in this book; ditzy just to be 'funny', bitchy and attitudal for no reason, and gives-it-out-but-can't-take-back. Plus I found the way that the family heads gather and talk about sensitive issues around her to be unrealistic for centuries old vampires to treat a months old newbie._The ending shows promise for book 5, so hopefully misgivings with this book is a one-off bump in the road.

Read it for what it is, a bit of fun
Still can't quiet decide. As it has some good and bad points and just when I think it's a waste of time or daft something happens. There is something about the story as I keep reading and will read the next just to see what happens next. Couple of continuity points towards the end don't quiet add up but I ignored them and read the story for what it is.
