I received the Comie 500-piece poker set yesterday and unpacked and my wife and i played some Texas hold 'em. The chips are terrific--feel good in the hand, weighty but not heavy and attractive. The next best is the case, which feels solid enough and is attractive is slim. (We'll see how the two closing clasps/buckles fair over time.) The two card packs are not well-known like Bicycle or Bee) but fine in a generic sense. The "Dealer" button could be bigger and heavier ideally, and is pretty plain. The dice i don't really need. Overall, for $49.99, this was a reasonable to good value purchase. If it had been $40 - $45 i would say very good value.

Good quality for the price. The chips are durable (I've dropped them on the hardwood floor several times with no ill effects). The cards are nice quality too... for purists, they're a couple of millimeters shorter and narrower than standard Bicycle decks, but they're sharply printed and people with smaller hands may appreciate the infinitesimal difference. I use the set for poker so I bought three sets without $$ amounts on the chips in order to get 300 of a single color - from what I could see while shopping 25 decent chips of a single color go for about $10 so the cost was about the same. We have enough chips now to give everyone a consistent level of betting, or to have higher-denomination chips when we raise the stakes. You can use them for other casino games of course. Some reviewers have noted the less-than-sturdy carrying case. Mine arrived with a couple of dents and crimps, but it will hold together fine. I'll put a few dents of my own in, I'm sure. I'm not carrying a Mission Impossible device with EMP shielding, I'm hauling poker chips to my Thursday night game in my friends' basements. The chips themselves are heavy and you've got 500 of them - the case is already a hefty handful and to make a sturdier case would be to make it a real bummer to haul around as well as add a surcharge to what is currently a great price (IMO). If you're a pro player, or play in high-stakes games where people expect casino-level chips, this might not be the set for you. But if you play with friends or family and want to step up from those red white and blue plastic chips, look no further.

The chips (which is what I purchased this set for) are excellent value for money. I decided against buying a set with the printed values as that adds about $20 to the cost (when reviewing other sets as well). I was surprised how heavy the set is. The only negative I'd note is the case. It didn't arrive damaged per se, and does hold the chips in their slots just fine but I have to say the case isn't the greatest quality. Indeed, the trim on the edges was already slightly buckled in a couple of places. Nothing major and certainly does NOT detract from it's usage as a storage case, it's just not as strong as perhaps it could be. None the less, the locks, hinges, handle etc all seem sturdy enough to hold the contents. After all I didn't buy it for the case, I bought it for the chips themselves and those are very nice indeed. Per another review, I printed out a sheet with the colors on with the values we will use so also a reason I was not in favor of chips with printed values stamped on them. Overall, very impressed and satisfied with the quality of my purchase.

Overall, I like this item. I was a little leery of the odd shape; the chips don’t all line up with a single color per row. We’ll see how that goes. The case itself is sturdy. I expect it to be durable. That’s why I bought this set. There’s an egg-carton liner in the top lid that keeps things in place. Unfortunately, it’s not glued in place, so it falls down all the time. The chips themselves are injection molded. There is a bit of color inaccuracy in the chips themselves where the colors touch, but the biggest issue is there the center of each chip is not consistent. So, game quality is high, but aesthetically, it leaves a little to be desired. I assume that the way these are made is that the main color is pumped into a cylindrical mold and then the white is pumped in. When the whole thing cools, the center discolors for some reason. Then, they cut the plastic tube into slices creating the chips. The other potential reason is that the cutting process heat isn’t consistent, causing the middle to discolor slightly. Overall, the quality is just ok. I like that the case shape is more square, and I can live with the egg-crate flopping around. It’s just the chips; a little more care in the manufacturing may be able to address this issue. It it bothers you, maybe look at clay chips, though those have issues as well. Overall: 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars
