One of the biggest problems with a central heating system is that it heats the entire house, taking more time to heat and use more electricity. If you are living in a big house like us and want just one or two cozy rooms to stay in, a central heating system can run up your electricity bills in no time. At the same time, there are still some nooks and corners that do not feel warm enough in your bedroom or home office. Portable space heaters are perfect answers for such a scenario. They are small, compact, yet powerful enough to heat the space in no time. As only the space you are in is heated by this space heater, the electricity used is minimal. There is no need to run up electricity bills by heating the entire house for hours or through the night when only the bedroom needs to be heated. If you choose one with ECO mode, the sensor will help self-adjust the settings to produce more or less heat based on the surrounding temperature. This also reduces your electricity usage/wastage to a great extent. Here I got two 16 inches height heaters - push button heater by Lasko, and touch control heater by Dreo. These are also two types commonly sold in space heaters. Both of the two heaters do a good job in my house and heat quickly with 1500 watts of warmth. But which one is more suitable for young couples like us? CONVENIENCE: If your heater is not just for near-table use, make sure to choose one with a remote. The Dreo's comes with a remote control which is full-function and easy to use, so it is less time-consuming to heat up. No more bending down to change controls. LOOKS: The Lasko design is getting a bit old as far as I can see. The Dreo is updated and meets the demand of some young couples like us. Its black & golden finish makes this unit look really modern and slender for placement in the home décor. Our main living room is a bit retro style, but it fits into the room just right! It does not require much of a dedicated space and can be placed in a safe corner in the room. We use it in the living room watching our favorite show to keep the place warm, and once we are done, we move it back to the bedroom. Sometimes my dog likes to sit in front of the heater (by our side), the quiet warm wind makes him drowsy on cold days. NOISE: Both are quiet at all fan speeds, not like other heating units that are so loud that they keep you up all night! Generally, the fan in the heaters makes a humming noise throughout. But I would say this Dreo heater is one of the quietest heaters I ever used. THERMOSTAT: The Lasko has 3 heat settings: high heat, low heat, or fan only, and 12 temperature settings. The Dreo has a high, low, and eco, plus precisely adjustable thermostat from 41 to 95 in 1 increments, You can also set a timer for the heater to automatically turn off if required. The Lasko controls are simple and easy to follow yet it has no extra features other than fan speed. From user experience, dreo’s refined custom control is more suitable for young people who are constantly pursuing the quality of life, while lasko’s overly simple design maybe more suitable for some 80-year-olds to quickly get started. SAFETY FEATURES: Both are built-in protection, so you don't have to worry about the protection button worn out. A space heater as small as 16 inches may get knocked down by a curtain, a dog, or some furniture being moved. An overheated device lying on your carpet can result in a fire. This tip-over sensor can greatly prevent fires and burn injuries by turning off the heating element before it becomes damaged or overheats in any way, preventing serious accidents from happening. After I have used them a couple of times, they can really do the job. MY FINAL THOUGHTS： Beyond the remote, the Dreo does everything the Lasko can plus more including a timer, a easy-to-read display, and a precise thermostat. Both brands can optionally be set to move side to side. The Dreo costs a little more but for us, it’s easily worth it. If you are looking for a delicate modern design heater that will provide ample heat for your small spaces in a big house, then this Dreo 16 inches space heater is the most definitely one I would recommend checking out. It is straightforward to use and puts out a strong heat output for such a small device while also providing multiple safety features, which can be invaluable if you have kids or pets in your home. Overall this is a quality space heater for an affordable price. Worth buying!

I’m very impressed with the DREO 1500W Electric Space Heater. It heats the room quickly and does a great job of maintaining a comfortable temperature without taking up much space. The remote control is very convenient, especially when adjusting the settings from across the room. I also like the compact 16-inch design, which makes it easy to place in a bedroom or larger room without being in the way. Overall, it’s quiet, easy to use, and provides plenty of warmth. Definitely a great heater for the colder months!

Just buy it. It’s so worth it. I love mine so much. So from no heat on in the house at all. Living in a mountain town let’s say 20 degrees out to be fair. Takes about an hour to fully heat the room from freezing up to temp. It’s quick and hot & good. Now if you just wanna leave it on in eco mode it turns off and on @ whatever temp you set. I live with no heat and keep it on 80 the dreo space heater. It looks nice. Remote is amazing laying in bed and change the temps without even moving adjust it through the night or day. This thing works !! It packs heat & I just leave it on 80 now and my room is very comfy if not hot. I wake up hot and the temp can be moved up into the 90s if you really wanna blast hot hot air and fill up a space. 80 is the lowest heat you can put it on. You can do 79 and below , but I think it’s cooler air. I found my sweeet spot at the lowest heat possible and it’s perfect. I even have to grab the remote in bed and turn it down sometimes !!! The remote is nice you can turn swivel mode off & on . The beeping noise off of on & all the settings stay where you had them even when powered off. The power button. What else just get it & thank me later. It’s expensive yes but it’s the best heater I’ve ever owned hands down. If your room is cold or possibly living room I’m sure on high heat. They also have H3 H2 & H1 for just constant HOT air blowing at all times. That would probably heat up any area honestly. It’s powerful & quick . It also has air settings for the summer or air temps. I have always loved dreo but my small one was a couple years old with tons of cat hair in the filter & it just wasn’t heating up my room even on 93. Again the new one this one , on 80/ eco is double the strength and warmth. My old one was on 93 and constant heat & was nothing compared to this. Just thank me later it’s worth every penny trust me.this new one the taller one will have your bedroom fully heated in an hour or less. I have to turn it down Half the time. I love the remote so I can be lazy half asleep roll over and adjust the heat setting by temp . You’ll find what works for you. But it goes up to 90s I think. And I like it hot hot . Sauna hot . I LIVE IN THE VERY COLD MOUNTAINS VAIL CO. POINT BEING - my sister who I live with she loves an ice box. NO HEAT ON where we live constantly set to off all winter long always & forever. On top of that - she opens windows up I’m talking 20 degrees out or below that . All winter the windows are open all day and night on top of zero heat. DREO set between 80-85. Turns my room into a sauna ( which I love ) . But just imagine if you have heat in your home already - you could probably use this at 70 degrees and be hot too. My dreo competes with no heat on at all ever in the place where we live by sisters choice: & it blows my mind windows open on top of that !!!! All winter !!!!! So if this tank can have my room so hot - fighting with polar opposite. This think is a tank. I wake up sweating . That’s how strong and powerful it is & quiet too. Maybe like mild Brown noise . I would say . Which is nice .

My 4 year old quartz tower quit this year. So I got 4 winters out of it but I was happy with it the whole time. I researched all space heaters and decided to try one with the bells and whistles. My old one didn't have a remote and didn't oscillate or have a timer or digital display. All it had was Off, Low, High and a dial for a thermostat. I settled on this one. It came today. I like the bells and whistles I didn't have before but I should have ordered a 24" or 23" instead of a 15". I was used to a 23" and really notice the difference. I have to sit right in front of it to feel the heat. Not that it doesn't put out enough heat, it certainly does that. It sits in front of my recliner and I felt the heat straight at me with the 23" but not with this one. I only feel it when I put my feet down. It may not be enough for the room size which is about 12x15. I won't be using the timer. I like for it to just run until I shut it off. I set the thermostat at a much higher temp than what I want and just run it on high or low. I tried the oscillate but decided I just want it to stay put. I also researched today about quartz vs. ceramic. I found out ceramic is cheaper to buy but may cost more to run. It heats the air quick but not people. The quartz is opposite. It is more expensive to buy and cheaper to run and warms people quicker. So taking all this in consideration I have decided to buy another quartz tower 24" without all the extras I don't need and keep this little one as a back up. So the design is great. The heat output is great. The size is not unless you spend a lot of time on the floor or want to put this on a table which was not an option for me with cats. It is totally quiet. I can't hear it running at all. It does put out a lot of heat for being so small. It is pretty and sleek looking. The remote is a bonus I will miss with my new quartz tower when it gets here but I didn't have one before so it's ok. I hope I have covered enough to help you make an informed decision. I gave it a 4 because of the height but that's not really a bad thing for some people.

Absolutely love this heater! It's the perfect size for my den, which is ALWAYS cold, I live in an older home. I've tried other heaters in the past but nothing would completely warm the room. This one does. I was originally looking for more of a tower heater but purchased this due to reviews and price - perfect choice. Delivered on time, easiest set up - plug and heat - that's all; love the remote. Once the room is toasty I can turn the fan down and not disturb the dog and cat in my lap (very important). This is one of the quietest heaters I have come across, you literally cannot hear the fan blowing, even on high. Great value for the price, love the safety features and the timer has come in very useful. I was expecting a "new" smell once plugged in but it was and remains completely odorless. Great value for the money, the oscillation is perfect for the entire room and it's so quiet you forget it's on.

The Dreo DR-HSH003 is one fine unit! From the unboxing, to the setup ease, to it's immediate heating when it turns on, this "dumb" space heater is well worth the investment! I say "dumb" because the only feature this unit doesn't have is Wifi app support. But outside of that, it does exactly what I need it to do! I needed a space heater that runs on 110V for my 1-car, 220 sq ft garage, which is setup in an off-grid electric environment using a Delta Pro 3 power station and two extra batteries, and where I recharge with solar. The 240V ceiling-mounted space heater that I was using, used way too much of my battery bank capacity (12.2kWh total), and where it would have required a 2nd Delta Pro 3 setup in parallel just to run it. This Dreo, with it's 110V, 1500W/1000W/0W power output with automatic temperature sensing and power cycling, was THE perfect fit for my use case. On cold winter days here in the mountains (it's only 20F outside today), I can keep my garage at 63F with this heater with free electric during the day (I average 5kWH-7.5kWh of solar charging daily). On the bad winter solar days, I switch the heater back to grid power to keep my battery bank topped off. And of course, during a grid-down situation, I can keep my garage heated on backup power for about 24 hours (not including solar or backup DC generator charging, which will give me extra run time if needed). This heater cycles on and off nicely. And when the room temperature falls below the set temperature on the heater, it only uses 1000W when it powers bank on. It doesn't stay on too long, and then powers back off, which will save you a good amount of money on your electric bills. This is also one of the quietest space heaters I've ever come across, and it has a nice small footprint given how much it heats. Five stars for this Dreo space heater!

My day one impressions of this little 16" tall heater is phenomenal. It seems well-built, has a fall-over sensor, has metal parts in front of the coil, looks beautiful, and.. it heats very, very well. I picked this unit initially because I saw that it performed better than many other units in a technical comparison, including noise, and a Warehouse Deals open-box was available at comparable huge discount. When my beloved behemoth of a 1500w space-heater finally died (~0.75'L x 2'W x 2.5'H), I would have been skeptical about replacing it with a unit that's about 1/6th its size. Turns out, the majority of the massive heater was a functionless plastic shell. Not only that, but physics tells me that 1500W of heating is about 1500W of heating less inefficiency. So how does it compare? At close range, the small Dreo actually seems to blow significantly hotter on its highest setting, as that 1500W is going to a radiator is about 2/3rds the size. If you plan to use the heater near your body, I'd actually prefer the Dreo's more directed small radiator. As for the Dreo's 16" tall height, you can use it at ground level to heat a room just fine (and heat rises). But if you instead want to have direct heat blowing on a chair, recliner, couch, etc., or be energy conscious you'll probably want it on some type of stand or an end table. It looks beautiful, so aside from pet-friendliness I don't think this is an issue as much as it is an observation. In comparison, the now difficult-to-find style of the old behemoth was kind of nice as it had a long *horizontal* radiator at the top of the unit, with a vent control to redirect airflow. So why didn't I choose a tall heater style? Most modern tall heaters have vertical radiators that start near the feet. I don't need that heat low, so the Dreo's on a stand and its more compact radiator lets me have control over where that 1500W goes. As for 'pet-friendliness,' which is my only concern: I'm glad it has a fall-over sensor. Still, electric space heaters should always be supervised for more than just that reason. Within about 3 minutes of it being on the table, Kitty saw brand new object and she put paws on top of it to observe. Below average sized kitty vs. Dreo? Kitty won. If you have pets and this is on a table or stand, you'll probably want to find some kind of solution to mount it to something with a heavier or wider base (mount the base to the unit, so it is still portable). It's narrow, it's tall, and it has a pretty tippy center-of-gravity. For context: I use a space heater to supplement zone heating near my desktop computer in a corner of the room. A short distance in front of the heater is my meshed back computer chair. That meshed back is absolutely excellent multi-season climate control, as fans & heaters blow directly on me. The room is about 100-120 sq feet and has a large, leaky patio door right next to my desk. On cold & windy Wisconsin days, especially with overnight temperature drops, that area will regularly drop 5-10F below the zone. So in the morning, on windy days, and in general when it starts feeling chilly, I turn a space heater on intermittently for 5-10 minutes to warm up myself and the room. As such, using a space heater allows me to keep the thermostat in the multi-room zone cooler & that patio-door corner warmer.

We purchased this space heater to supplement the forced air central heating in our home. Since central heating is seldom central - usually tucked off at some corner of the house - the rooms furthest from the heater have the longest ducting runs and are furthest from the thermostat. Add in the builder's practice of using the cheapest ducting and smallest return air registers that will work, and the remote rooms can get pretty chilly. Our remodeling contractor recommended an inexpensive first step: Replace the undersized return air register! He explained that the openings in the register should add up to at least as large an area as the filter - something not usually adhered to by builders. We tried this, and the entire furnace became less noisy, pumped out more air, and our electric bill dropped. Big difference in heat reaching the back rooms, but still a bit chilly. Not wanting to spend a ton on better insulated ducting, we opted to try a space heater with a thermostat we could set to match the house unit, giving a boost to the chilly rooms. Since we have very high electric rates, we wanted something that gave options on heating, and would be accurate on the heat settings. We tried several units, testing the output with our contractors Kill A Watt meter. Our first selections were returned to stores immediately, as their lowest setting was drawing 200-250 watts more than advertised, and only the highest settings came close to their advertised numbers. And one of them smelled like a chemistry lab after just 2 minutes use. This Dreo DR-HSH003 is better than our first 2 purchases. The settings advertise 700/1000/1500 watts, and we measured 730, 917, and 1470 watts. The fan mode seemed to draw about 10 watts, and about 2 watts were used by the oscillating feature. The watts were a bit higher than these numbers for the first 5-10 seconds of start up, but settled down to pretty constant numbers. The fan is reasonably quiet, but doesn't seem to have a speed adjustment. The tip protection seemed to work as advertised. Rocking it moderately didn't shut off the heater, but tilting it to where it would fall over without help caused it to shut off. The thermostat function on ECO mode works pretty well, and is appreciated. With our electric rates if we ran this on top heat without eco mode all day, it would be about $2.50 a day to heat the back room. Using ECO mode, with the thermostat set to 71F, it is about 60 cents for 8 hours use. And no obnoxious odor - just a mild hint which rapidly faded away during the first 20 minutes of use. The overheat safety device wasn't tested. The only thing that gives me pause is that it is almost entirely light weight plastic, and the owners manual says not to use it if dropped - discard the heater or return for service! So stability and durability could be an issue, especially in earthquake country, hence the 4 star rating. The sale price is probably closer to being worthwhile than the list price, mostly due to the warning to return if dropped, without defining how big a drop would be needed to require returning the heater - implies that the insides may be very fragile. UPDATE: After 3 weeks, the thermostat/eco function failed. The heater would not shut off on eco mode even when the room temp was 5 degrees higher than the setting on the heater. Manually shut it down packed it up, and returned to Amazon

Although I have only been using it for just about a week, like others have mentioned here, I am also very pleased with its performance. It heats well, and barely makes a sound. Several great features including being very quiet, ability to set temperature or just run with preset power levels, and timers. The Good: Whisper quiet Very usable features(timers, thermostat, oscillation) among my favourites. Inexpensive The Bad: Haven’t come across anything negative to say about this heater I do recommend this heater!
