sturdy & well crafted feral cat shelter
I bought one, set it up, then went back and bought a second one. The setup instructions are pretty straightforward, and I got through both setups without problems, but I did find I had to stare at the hinge diagram/instructions extra-long to ensure I got it right both times. The second house setup was a little bit faster than the first house setup, likely because only a week or two separated the builds. I really like this shelter because is sturdy, solid, and safe. There is not a second door for an escape door. This keeps the warmth in and keeps the shelter size to a manageable size. I have one feral shelter mostly out in the open because that area doesn't have much roof overlap. We also set beverages on the roof of the shelter when we were outside by our pool in our small backyard. The other feral shelter is located on my covered open porch. For the shelter on my covered open porch, I leave the roof open on the shelter. I've had these about 8 months, and they still look brand new (refer photos) as they use quality, sturdy materials for the shelter construction. I highly recommend these due to the construction. One add-on that would extend the life: either position the completed feral shelter structure on cement, stone or seal the bottom of legs with paint or spar polyurethane because water will wick-up the legs along the woodgrain. Anything made with real wood needs this, so it is not unique to this shelter. In fact, I see it as a plus that the legs are real wood. Sealing the grain should help these shelters last perhaps 10+ years, depending on if any other maintenance arises over time. If ever I need another feral shelter, I'll be back to get a third from here. Finally, while shipping date posted was given, I want to thank this company. When I ordered my second feral cat house, single digit cold was in the Texas weather forecast. They sped up the delivery and I had it constructed and outside to keep the neighborhood strays more snuggly outside in advance of the worst of the winter storm. This coming year, I am so pleased that because construction is so quality, I'm ready - and I'm probably ready for the next 10-20 years' winters! THANK YOU FOR MAKING SUCH A GREAT SHELTER! In case Amazon combines my feral cat shelter with other products, this is my shelter's description: GDLF Outdoor Cat House Feral Cat Enclosure 100% Insulated All-Round Foam Weatherproof Solid Wood Large Size for Multiple Cats 34.5" L*21.5" W*27.2" H I hope this review helps others.

Best Cat House for Your Money
I've had this Cat House for over a year now and my cat just loves it. She took to it right away. I would rather have her stay in my home, but she doesn't want anything to do with that....being that she was a stray living on her own when I trapped her and had her spayed. She has warmed up to me and I can pet her now. I like the fact that it has a separate compartment (separated by a removable wooden divider), where she can feel safe from predators. I purchased an outdoor heating pad and place that in the bottom under the warm comfy blanket, when the weather gets colder. I love the fact that water runs off of the roof when it rains. and you can open it up from the top to replace the blankets. I place a soft cat bed on top of the house during nice weather, as she loves to lay on top of it. This is very sturdy house. The only issue I have it the little awning that goes over the door is now kind of chipping away underneath, as it is not a solid piece of wood, but more like thin pieces underneath a solid piece of wood. I will have my husband patch it up. it still keeps the rain out, when needed. I will be purchasing another one, should i need it for my other cat or any new one I rescue. I had purchased a kitty tube with a heating pad for him years ago, and he seems to like that once it gets really cold. Between the two, i like this one more. i wish they would offer a light colored outdoor fitted cover to go over the top of this, as in the summer time, being its black roofing like material, it gets really hot, when I have it on my deck. Worth every penny I paid for it and very easy to put together.

Solid purchase to protect outdoor animals
I purchased this cat house because I needed a weatherproof structure for feral cats that seek shelter around my home. A lot of enclosures I have bought previously were insulated, but not waterproof, so while the cats were not in direct rain or melting snow, the heating pads and their fur ended up always soaked. This structure is solid wood, with shingle-like material to repel water and melting snow. It has a large capacity and will allow at least two cats to use the space. It is heavy and will not move around as animals enter and leave. I love that the lid raises and lowers as this will be a much easier way to clean and maintain a house for outdoor animals. The lid is also angled so that melting water will run off rather than soak into the shelter. It was easy to assemble, but it did take a little time to build. The only cautions are: it does not have a second exit for feral animals. They sometimes prefer this as an escape route if they are cornered. Also, two of the pieces of this house that I received in the original shipment were broken. I contacted the manufacturer and after submitting photos, they promptly sent me replacement pieces. They were friendly and very customer-service oriented. Overall, I would recommend this cat house for anyone who wants to offer a more stable enclosure for any outdoor animal that will fit!

Very well made and designed, and relatively easy to assemble
This item was well packaged; the parts were placed in the shipping container in a way that made very good use of the space; any voids were filled with foam packing, and paper sheets separated and protected the parts; there was no damage to anything. All the parts were well labeled, and the instructions were clear, complete, and concise. Assembly was relatively easy and can be done by one person. The only problem I had, was that the smallest screws were hard to start, and I found myself frequently having to retrieve them after they slipped; I would recommend drilling pilot holes for them. All the other hardware, including the larger screws, went together easily. The overall design of the product is good; it is sturdy, and seems to take into account the weather, and how it will be used. The parts are made of materials that appear to be durable, and the completed shelter looks good. Screw heads are exposed, and I suspect will rust over time; a dab of paint could be added for protection. There is a removeable baffle inside. that should help with wind, and potential predators. The main section inside, could probably house two cats, as long as those two cats get along well together. There is just enough room to add a warming pad (K&H Pet Products Extreme Weather Outdoor Kitty Pad, Heated, For Indoor and Outdoor Use Black Small 12.5 X 18.5 Inches 40W) that I had bought separately. The shelter comes with a vinyl curtain to further block the elements from entering the shelter, but I left it off initially, because the feral cats I bought this for don't seem to like pressing through barriers; I may add it once they get more used to the shelter. Overall, I recommend this shelter to anyone who would like to provide a place for outdoor cats to get out of the elements.

CLASS ACT
I never comment on any products but I cannot say enough good things about this cat shelter. It is a class act from the prompt delivery to the meticulous packaging to the excellent instructions and markings for the assembly that even I could not mess up. I am an elderly woman without the strength I used to have and I was afraid I wouldn't be able to assemble it but it just virtually assembled itself in no time at all. EVERYTHING is marked including the outline of the brace on the underside of the top lid, although that was a little faint and I didn't see it at first. It is sturdy and attractive and the insulation is very effective. On a bitter cold day I was arranging the bedding inside and put my hand on the inside wall and it wasn't even cool. The cats love it, and I'm so impressed with it that I ordered a second one which arrived today and is currently sitting here completely assembled and ready to be taken outside as soon as I prepare the base for it to stand on. Thank you so much Good Life. Blessings! PS: I noticed while reading some of the other reviews that people had a little trouble with the braces for the lid. I did too on the first one I bought because I didn't at first see the screw holes (three screw holes in a triangle shape) on the inside of the frame (not the wall, but the frame the lid sits on), and the outline of the other end of the brace printed on the underside of the lid about two inches from the bottom of the lid. There is a tracing of the position for the top end of the brace but it's very faint and I was wearing a head lamp when I finally noticed it. So anyway, I hope this helps. Again, this is for the GDLF Outdoor Cat House Feral Cat Enclosure 100% Insulated All-Round Foam Weatherproof Solid Wood Large Size for Multiple Felines 34.5" L*21.5" W*27.2" H

Easy to Assemble, Sturdy. Offers great peace of mind.
This was very easy and fun to assemble. Plan on airing out components as they tell you to do (it's cedar). A couple of super-minor things in assembly: Watch out for short grain on the little brackets of the overhang (a quick pre-drill, using a bit that is just a little smaller than the spiral part of the screw shank prior to assembly should reduce the chance of those overhang pieces splitting--barring that, a bit of glue and a clamp should take care of it if it splits). Also, be sure to align the roof (side to side) before installing screws on the back hinges so that the roof lifts and drops without binding on either side. These are minor things that are not overly spelled out in otherwise perfect visual directions. It is thoughtfully designed and construction is very well-thought-out. The roof has little overhangs to prevent leakage, the roof and overhang piece both have roofing shingle material on them. The wall pieces have pegs that let you align walls before sinking screws. They give you an extra screw for each group of screws you need (I love that--too few companies do that anymore). The legs get the unit up off the ground (which adds years to the unit's lifespan and keeps the animal warmer) yet not too high to be accessible and inviting. They put the comfort of the animal first but then they must have worked and worked to make this so entirely easy to assemble. The package it arrives in asks you to let them know if anything is wrong or broken; sounds like they stand behind their product. I'm totally impressed with this simple, functional workmanship. The best part though, is that I sleep at night knowing that the homeless stray kitty who has lived in my heavily wooded area for a couple of years (where coyotes, fisher cats and bobcats prowl) can finally be safe and cozy. I placed my unit behind my garage where there is great privacy but where predators are less likely to visit. We're in a rural part of coastal Maine and this is the best of the best for us. I can't get over how happy this makes me.

You need a power drill to put this together
You need a power drill to put this together. The pieces are solid wood and most holes are not pre drilled. The ones that are, are too small. Appears to be of good quality but I didn’t get it all put together yet. I am charging the batteries for my drill.
