Review: Read this for mounting adjustability details. - Having a second water bottle mounted to my dropper seat post, with the post in the down position, there is no place to mount a tail light on my seat post or seat rails, so I started looking at angle adjustable tail lights that I could mount to the seat stay. I am already running LED wheel lights for lateral visibility, that use 2 x AAA batteries, and I previously bought a 100 pack of desertcart basics AAA batteries, so getting the CatEye Omni 5 was a no-brainer. You can mount it vertically or horizontally by unclipping it from the mount and rotating it 90 degrees and re-instering it into the mount. The bracket has 10 detents, which rotate over a 90 degree arc (+/- 45 degrees from perpendicular to mounting bar). I also tried mounting this on the kickstand. It works perfectly fine there as well, and would for sure keep you from hitting it with your foot. When mounted to the seat stay, there is a small chance you could clip this with your foot in an emegency dismount, especially if you mount it horizonatally instead of vertically. A forceful kick would likely break the clip-in mechanism, ruining the mount. The +/- 45 degrees mounting adjustability is not quite enough angle to have the beam parallel to the road, so the beam is angled upwards about 10-15 degrees. The rearward visbility is still very good, even though it noticably less bright that when staring directly into the focal point of the LED beam. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the mounting flexibility, the build quality and the brightness. I can not comment on the durability yet, but I wanted to get this positive review out sooner, rather than later. Even if the battery life falls short of the advertised 60 hours for continuous on, I will not be disappointed, because a set of batteries in my wheel lights only last for ~6 hours of continuous on, and I routinely carry 4 extra AAA batteries in my bike bag. I have a tool bag under the seat of my bike, so I like the option of mounting this on the bar that goes from the rear axle to the seat. I also like the sensible battery operation. So much easier to just pop in a new battery rather than have to take the light off and find a USB charger. I also find the operating modes very sensible. These lights with multiple modes are annoying to me - why do I need seven blinking options? This light has three - steady on, slow flash, and rapid flash.
