Moen Cartridge Retainer Nut Removal Tool for 2-Handle Faucets, 14272

This tool worked absolutely great and the right price. It resolve the issue with my Moen faucet not stopping properly. The tool is good quality and fit perfectly.

Worked great making my job a lot easier

The copy cat, so-called "Moen" wrench from Ace and elsewhere is too big to work with the Moen 1224 cartridge. You'll have to get the real thing. You'll most probably ruin the plastic cartridge retainer nuts on your Moen fixture if you try to use any other makeshift tool to remove them. Most of this time this wrench does the trick. Sometimes the nuts are really stuck and have to be chiseled out. Do a sloppy job chiseling out the nuts, damaging the brass threads, and you'll be wondering when the plumber will ever show up. Congrats, your eight minute job has now careened right into the ditch, dumba$$. Your wife will rant and fume until the plumber shows up a few days later, then she'll start muttering to him about the cheap bumbling idiot as if you weren't standing right there. What a horrible week. Buy the wrench, Jack!

Worked well made removal easy

Bought this to help fix a dripping Moen tap. Luckily we purchased it as our plumber didn't have one. The tool engages the nut that is on the cartridge.

I wish it had cost less, but it was worth every penny. Make your job easier and get the right tools. I used screwdrivers to put in and remove the wrong cartridge the first time. When I had to order the correct cartridges, I sucked it up and order the retainer removal tool. Believe me, it made the job so much easier and was worth every penny.

Unfortunately my plastic gasket was already stripped out even though it had never been removed to replace the cartridge before. This tool didn't work and I had to get a whole new faucet assembly from Moen. I kept it in case I need to change this type of cartridge in the future but this faucet design has flaws compared to the older style faucets and cartridges by Moen. Not this products fault.

Works well to help remove the cartridge, I had to use an adjustable pliers to turn the tool as the part was too tight for hand removal.
