Has this been tested for lead content?

Both chain and pendant have been tested in the lab. There is no lead in the metal.

How does it open/close on the pendant? Got one of these in a diffrent style and my girlfriend has alomost lost her pearl a few times from falling out.

Send your question via “ask the seller” option, we need to know which style you got to better answer your question. But normally you can pinch the bail on top a little to make it tighter after you place the Pearl inside, it would not open easily after you do that.

Does the chain rust if put in any water?

The chain is Stainless steel, will not rust if put in water. But as with ALL jewelry, it is not recommended to wear while swimming, taking showers, or exercise.
