Better for my cat Riley
My 19 year old cat has beginning kidney concerns so I bought this due to it does not have phosphate. Something you want to avoid feeding them. My cat loves it and no prescription needed.

This gives me hope. Love the hydrating puree.
First off: It got here quick. I ordered it Monday and with prime I got it by Wednesday. I'm so glad to have this. Anyone who has a cat with kidney issues that won't eat the prescription food, knows the desperation you feel. "How am I going to keep my cat alive if he/she doesn't eat!" I had been giving him the Weruva Phos Focus lickable treats to help wash down the Gabapentin he had to take after his dental surgery. Before the dental surgery he was eating the prescription food much better, to the point that it brought his levels down to nearly normal, which is why he could have the surgery in the first place. We suspect that it may be the Gabapentin that changed things. He lost weight. Anyway, to make a long story longer, I researched, and found the Weruva Phos Focus wet cat food. I talked to my vet. She said "Go for it." I put a spoonful in the dish to see if he was even going to eat it at all. He ate the whole thing! So I mixed a half can of the Phos Focus and a half can of prescription kidney, and put it in front of him. He started eating it! He didn't eat it all, but he ate enough to give me hope. I know a few reviewers said their cats won't eat this. I hope mine continues to. We can't give up. Do whatever it takes. We have to keep these babies eating. My vet said for my cat with kidney issues, keeping weight on him, and keeping him hydrated, are the most important things right now.

Unpleasant for me and the cat.
My cat wouldnโt even try this stuff. I knew it looked awful to me, but hey, Iโm not a cat. My cat barely got close enough to sniff it before moving away. Iโm sure it has all the necessary nutritional stuff, but only if the cat will eat it. I donated it to a sanctuary. Hopefully they can find a cat that will eat it.

Used to be 5 star
This formula used to be 5-star, but I wonder if I got a bad batch or if something has changed. My older, picky cat has eaten this for the last couple of years and used to love it. We struggled to find a canned food that she liked, especially one that was kidney-friendly until we found this. However, with the most recent case I bought, she won't touch it at all. She turns her nose up at it. I thought she might have gotten tired of it. I honestly would think that it was her and not the food because she is super picky, but my young cat, who will eat anything and would *ALWAYS* sneak in to steal some of this, won't touch it now either. I opened an older can of another flavor that my older cat didn't like and my young cat devoured that, so I really think something is wrong with this most recent case. Because of the cost, I'm leery to buy another case to see if it was just a bad batch. And it makes me worry about quality control. I cancelled my subscription and we will start the quest again to see if I can find a healthy wet food for my older cat (who just wants to eat her prescription dry food and sometimes some of my younger cat's weight management canned food which she doesn't need).

Cats love it!
My 3 cats love Weruva! I am so happy they came out with this line of low phosphorus cat food, this is great especially for my senior cat who is beginning stages of kidney disease. I feel a lot better feeding Weruva than any of the brown mush that is "prescription diet". This tilapia and chicken patรฉ is a huge hit with my cats!

Great idea, but in reality...
My oldest kitty has early kidney disease, so I wanted to get ahead of it with better food. The number one reason I tried this is because it didn't require a prescription. I really thought I would have a winner with this, because he almost exclusively eats chicken and white fish, but that's not the case; he doesn't like it. I've taken to mixing it with his regular food a couple times a week in order to use it up. I tried some other foods for renal support, and he likes none of them. I might try this again in different flavors to make certain before I give up. As of now, because I can't wait until I test them all, I'm using a phosphorus binding powder in his regular food a few times a week. If he would have liked this, then I would continue buying it. I think the quality is good, but as all cat owners can tell you, it's just a personal preference for each cat.

Our picky eater loved this food!
My cat loved this and also the chicken only version. She was a very picky eater. Unfortunately she was old and in poor health and passed away recently. However we are so happy she had food she enjoyed in her final days with us. We only wish we had found this brand years ago.

Pigapus eats a little IF starving, eats well if mixed with something he likes..
If Pigapus is starving, he will pick at thes a little, instead of inhaling it like he does with most food as well as inedible things. If he begins to show more interest, I will up the stars. OK, if you mix in some tuna he will eat it right up. Probably mixing it with anything that tastes better will probably work. Giving it a 3rd star.
