A: It's 5v, use a USB charger adapter, plug the USB into the unit and plug the adapter up and it's that easy

A: I believe so but I haven’t had to yet. I rinse the sponges and replace the stones

**Q: can the sponges be tilted down to lay flat?**
A: Yes,The sponge can be lay flat for lower water tank like turtle or frog tank.However the water pump (4 inch high )must be operated under water.

**Q: Is this filter good for shrimp?**
A: Definitely, because it is a sponge filter, there are no inlets to get sucked into and the shrimp like hiding out in the ridges of the sponges.
