Much more practical than a small mouse mat and way more stylish. It looks good on my desk and keeps everything in its place. It enables me to use my mouse anywhere - not just on a small area of mouse mat. It also stops my keyboard from moving around and provides a bit of cushion for my wrists. The one downside is that it does bobble slightly with use, but this is not too bothersome and can presumably be shaved off with one of those sweater shavers if desired.
