absolute luxury, purchase both version - this one and the wild seas one too
my trigodon purchase: this one(woodland umber) 19 Oct; wild seas, 06 Aug; both 585/-. my usage: daily shave except sunday, BSC DE razor. three old, 'broken in' badgers. Wet shaving from approx two years now. my experience: It is very - very - important to have premium and luxurous shave leather. Those 15-20 minutes every morning, can make or break your day sometimes. And it's not just the nicks/cuts or cold water, the fragrance or specifically - the monotonocity of the fragrance that can ruin the mood. Similarly, having great frangrance during the shave can lift the gloom, can make you think, can really make your day. Therefore I make sure to have at least two different fragrances - both in shaving soaps and after-shaves. each with its own brush. The fragrance must be mild, or the nose will start to reject it after some applications whether or not you are using any number of fragrances. I started with proraso, then realised the importance of different fragrance and got another prosaso. Those two took care of almost two years!!! yes, proraso is THAT good, guys. then within a span of one month, gillette, then ditched gillette and purchased pink woulf, then ditched pink woulf to trigodon wild seas. and now with last proraso finished and with this purchase, both are trigodon. So, I am writing this review based upon the my comparison of proraso, gillette, pink woulf and trigodon. Proroso - Proroso is like the flagship of shaving soaps. The menthol+eucliptis version is absolutely the best. the feeling you get when you apply that leather, oh god, that IS heaven. Its pricey, very pricey. Also, the expiry date is not there on package due to some european law(or absence of law), which keeps you apprehensive. The puck is plastic, not a luxurious feeling for sure. Trigodon - if trigodon introduces a fragrance of menthol+eucliptis as proroso does, i am never going to use proroso again because then trigodon will be absoloutely equal to proroso in less than half the price!! It actually has everything proroso has - creamy and voluminous leather with smallest of amount, totally comfortable shave, great post-shave feeling and skin does look happy, first whipping lasts upto the touch up pass. the complete package. oh, and also, the puck - absolute classic. The design team of trigodon puck did really hit the bull's eye! Gillette - never use it. it doesnt feel right from the word go. Pink woulf - dont use it. It looks promising but dries very quickly. Also the post-shave feeling is kinda streatched skin. they have the menthol version, but i never felt 'it' moment with pink woulf. so again, if trigodon introduces the same fragrance in its current price and current quality, it will be a flagship killer. It's that good. between the wild seas and woodland umber of trigodon - i suggest you get both. the woodland umber fragrance is kinda soft/romantic luxury. It can introduce the train of thought of some 'aaj mausam bada baemaan hai' moments. While the wild seas is MANLY, no kidding, no nonsense, rich, salty, kinda 'serious' fragrance. I suggest you get both. try both. you are gonna love both. To trigodon - great work. absolutely great. from packaging to the puck to the product itself. i am loving it. please think about the menthol/eucliptis oil version.

Superb product - superior value
Excellent packaging and aesthetics of a round tin can. Fragrance is nice without being overbearing. Moisten the soap with a few drops of water 5-6 minutes before use, soften the brush by soaking it as well. Lather is thick, smooth and lasts till the entire shave unlike foam or gel that starts dissipating, lather on brush is good enough for second pass. Excellent for DE razor shave, post shave feeling is great. I have been using it for more than three months except for travel and skipping a couple of days each week, it is not even at half mark thus incredible value for money in addition to excellent results.

Devine fragrance, good lather resulting in an amazing shaving experience.
TL;DR; Just bloody buy it already. Navjot Sidhu once famously said during commentary, "A good lather is half the shave!!" and I see the truth in that. For that, you need a good shaving soap and this product is exactly that. I'll just say that this is an awesome product. From the first glance of opening the package down to the end of the shave, it feels like it is a well made, well thought and a premium product. The fact that this is made in India is a cherry on the cake. I started using a double edge safety razor in the last 2 years and it has been a revelation. Razor burns have been next to zero. I haven't touched a gilette razor since then. I have therefore gone out and bought several shaving soaps mainly to try out various brands and also for their fragrances/textures. This Trigodon Woodland Umber is absolutely right up there with the best and I've purchased both their fragrances on Amazon. Scent: I'm biased towards Woodland Umber because I love forests and hiking through them. The scent is beautiful and dense reminding me of the smells of a forest floor that has received a bit of rain. Absolutely rich, deep and intoxicatingly sweet with hints of earthy spices. However, I do think the scent can be overpowering (just a tiny bit and maybe Trigodon can reduce the perfume oils by ~10%). There is a review somewhere below that describes how important the 15-20 mins of shaving is in a man's life. I totally agree with him. A great fragrance can lift your spirits and enhance your mood. It will make your day by giving it a good start. Lather: Lathering is good, forms quickly and in about minute you have a rich lather - not too runny and not too foamy either (I have a synthetic brush not badger hair). The soap provides good lubrication with the skin and the razor can do its job without giving any razor burns. So plus points to that. The lather also stays firm in the bowl, enough to last for a 2nd pass. Pricing: It is slightly on the higher side, but I'm ok with it considering it is an Indian product and I'd like to see more from a company that has already given us this. The tin feels premium, the scent is great and the lather is good too, which does justify the price in a way. I've been using it for the last 6-7 (not everyday) and it has lasted well. Materials: I liked how they packaged it. The box is neat and it contained a small note describing the soap and what Trigodon's philosophy was. Just makes the product more wholesome. The tin feels premium and the font on the label is good (could be a little bigger for older eyes). Just buy it. Buy both of them. And if Trigodon lists their third fragrance on amazon, buy that as well.

A review and an open letter
I was a newcomer to this form of shaving two years ago. What I have now learned is called ‘Wet Shaving’. But would now consider myself a sort of veteran. I have primarily used international products given the variety and so I pick up a few products every time I travel. For the new comers to wet shaving, this is an open letter to you, to really help you enjoy this art. - Use products which use a lot of natural oils. They really really give a great feel to your skin. You can find this out if one of the first few ingredients in the list contain natural oils. Natural oils are much more expensive, so accordingly prices will be a lot higher. - Research on how to use wet shaving products. Every shaving soap is different. Some are water hungry, some take some time to lather but provide thicker lather, some are harder and hence higher temperature water could be used to soften up the soap more etc. This does not mean that the product is bad. It is just different. And I would rather have variety than too much uniformity - Buy only the best tools. Brushes, Razors etc. Since they are worth the investment especially because if maintained well, they are life-long products. - Synthetic or animal brushes depends on user preference. Nothing is bad when it comes to premium products. They are just different. - Wet your skin amply before you shave. - Do not use products with high fragrance content, since you will immediately get bored of the product as the nose just like the eyes, gets easily bored of things and keep buying new soaps to counteract this effect. Use a mild fragranced soap so that your nose forgets. Also aftershaves in general smell much better than shaving soaps as they are basically perfumes with extra astringent ingredients. So why let the fragrances clash. - The post shave feel of a product can be tested after a few minutes of shaving, not immediately. Feel your skin after a few minutes, let the oils get some time to do their work. Now about this product: - It has a great post shave feel - The fragrance is perfectly balanced - It lathers easily - It provides a good thick coat of lather - It comes very very nicely packaged which really adds to the whole experience - The note in the box might be a little too much, since the product speaks for itself. But effort is always commendable
