Alba Botanica Even and Bright Renewal Cream 2 Fl. Oz (Packaging May Vary)

I had been using Proactiv green tea moisturizer for years out of fear that I would break out horribly if I switched to anything else. It had really gotten to the point where it wasn't even doing anything anymore for me though. I had flaky, beyond dry skin across my brow bone and under my eyes at times, to the point where it was painful. I tried coconut oil, mango butter, Burt's Bees eye cream, and nothing seemed to work without making it burn like crazy or make it worse. In comes this lovely product. It is super thick, and you only need a tiny bit of it. I just touch the top of it and get enough for above my eyes, then do one more pat for my forehead and each cheek. I use it day and night and it is a miracle product. It is extremely moisturizing, but not to the point of making this skin feel like it is suffocating or greasy. It really just feels balanced and soft and happy. I also use this on my neck where I have some stubborn eczema, and even with the strong fragrance in it, it doesn't bother it and is actually the only thing that has worked on it, even beyond Cortizone-10 for eczema and my Eucerin cream. Yes, the smell is something else. It smells kind of like men's deodorant. I actually almost pitched it/gave it away after using it the first time... I had to wash it off my face because I couldn't stand it. But then, one night, I had it sitting on my counter, and was desperate for some moisture, so I slathered it on around my eyes and woke up with normal skin for the first time since probably October. I have to admit I had some weird dreams that night that my face was inside a guy's armpit. But now, I'm used to it. Just like any perfume you wear, you'll get used to it and not even notice it after a day or two. Oh, and not a single breakout! For this price, you have to give it a try!

I give this product 4.5 stars, but rounded up to 5. I'm in my 30s with sensitive skin and have been using this product in the winters since 2014. Oily t-zone with dry (flaky!) cheeks so it's difficult to keep my whole face happy with just one potion. It's winter here in the Midwest and that means my face is dry and itchy to boot. I've tried many of Alba's lotions (including both Hawaiian creams which are my staples in the summer), but really need some extra oomph to combat winter dryness. I had originally tried this lotion in the summer and it was totally overkill - my face felt like it had on a hydration blanket (not bad, really, just too much). This product is a DREAM in cold weather. It is the only product I've found that keeps my face from getting flaky. I use it every night and sometimes in the morning if I know I'm going to be out in the cold/wind for more than just a jaunt into/out of a store. Beyond the feel, my face looks healthier and breaks out less when it's properly moisturized - and I'm super pale, so I need all the help I can get! I'd give it 5 stars but I wish it didn't have a smell. The other reviewer who said it smells a bit like aftershave is pretty close, though it don't find it to be that strong or as masculine. I don't really mind it, but it's definitely not my favorite. It is certainly not a deal breaker for me. I can't fully speak to the "evening" of skin tone when using this stuff, but can say that I've noticed some scar fading with this product. I think it's likely that overall healthier skin can better repair itself. I'm in the process of ordering another jar (my 7th, I think) in enough time that I know I won't run out between. According to Amazon, it's been almost 3 months since my previous order. Given that I sometimes use this more than once a day, I'm pretty impressed with how long a jar lasts and at under $15 per jar, I think this cream is a total steal.

You're supposed to use this every night and see a noticeable difference in about two weeks. I'm terrible with skin regiments and I've been using it off and on since I bought it a few months ago and doubt that I've used it every night for at least two weeks, so I can't speak to how well it works in that regard. What I can tell you is that my skin is noticeably softer and smoother when I wake up in the morning. I'm very lucky in that I don't get acne very often, but I think this cream helps keep it at bay as well. One thing I did learn is that there is DEFINITELY a difference between a lotion and a cream and that a little cream goes a long way! If you're not a garbage person like me and actually take care of your skin, you probably already knew this. But I've mostly used lotions my entire life, so this was my first time using a cream and while it definitely feels different on my face (a little heavier), I don't dislike it. The smell is pretty strong, but it's not unpleasant to me. I'm not sure how to describe it. It just smells...clean, I guess. I'm about halfway through the jar and was on the fence about getting another one once this runs out, but I think I will. Before I was using too much and it felt like I was rubbing my face for hours before all the white went away, but now I've figured out how much I should *actually* be using and the experience is much better as a result. Plus I like the smell.

Then this is the product for you I wish I had read the reviews, but since I have used the product before and loved it I didn’t read them. The last time I bought the product it was white, light weight, and smelled fresh and botanical. My skin responded very well to it, so I was excited to find a great moisturizer. I just received the “new and improved” version. It smells awful. The only thing I can compare it to is how the lettuce and mayo on a McChicken smells. The product is a lot thicker, and my pores can feel the difference. It’s also tinted yellow, which makes me feel like it’s old. I read the reviews on Target in case I had received an old product—nope, same complaints in those reviews. I tried to return the product due to being defective because it stinks and obviously isn’t what I thought I ordered. Of course I got the notification that the item is not returnable or even replaceable. I also use one of their facial scrubs and am dreading ordering it again now. I hope it has not been “improved” also. I plan to look into the brand Vitamins and Sea for a night cream since I love several of their products.

I have used this Even Advanced Sea Plus for years as a night time moisturizer and have always been satisfied. I am 66 and probably started using it at around 48). I have also tried over several years experimenting with other products (department store brands--much more expensive; private "derm" clinic prescription only---even more dear$$$) and find that this Alba product delivers moisturized skin with a decrease in wrinkles, and even more surprising a lovely lustre after using it for a week or so, which I finally realized was the effect of its claims to even skin tone. It is all natural to boot. Ladies (and gents) you need to trial this. A best kept secret. Also, to me the fragrance is mild and bearly discernable. The creme is on the heavy side, so I usually use it at night only, though it will "soak in" over 15-60 minutes, and is a relief for those dry winter days.

***April 2011 Update- I ordered my second container, and they've changed the product! It says "new and improved" on the package, but I don't like it as much. It's thinner and the fragrance is stronger. I'm actually rather distressed to find out a product I really loved has been dramatically altered. It does absorb more quickly now, so if you're in a humid climate that could be a plus. It does not moisturize as well, but it does not irritate my skin, so I'll use it until I find something I like better. (my original review based on purchase from February/March 2011): I purchased this cream after reading the other reviews from Amazon customers, and it did not disappoint. It took away the redness I'd been experiencing and my skin looked radiant while using it! When the bottle was empty, I tried another cream that was supposed to do the same thing, only better. It was three times more expensive and made my skin red and bumpy. Lesson learned- this is the only cream I'll use! At this price, you can't lose by trying it. If it's helpful, I live in Phoenix, so the air is very dry year round. This cream is very thick, perfect for an arid climate. I use it at night and a sunscreen with retinol in it for day. I'm in my 30's. LOVE this product!

Oh this is such good cream! I find it extremely nourishing on my dry and sensitive skin. It is also fading my brown age spots and marks, gradually. I love the smell, the feel, the fact that it is organic and not tested on animals. Ten out of ten!

Diese (Nacht)Creme ist ganz besonders. Der Duft dezent, die Inhaltsstoffe rein natürlich - ohne Konservierungsstoffe oder sonstiges, was meine empfindliche Haut belasten könnte. Vornehmlich wirkt ein Marinekomplex aus Meeresalgen, Mineralien und Wirkstoffen direkt aus dem Meer. Angewendet werden soll die Creme nach einer gründlichen Reinigung vor dem Schlafengehen. Das Versprechen von AlbaBotanica: nach ca. 14 Tagen ist das Hautbild deutlich feiner, glatter, reiner und strahlender. Pigmentflecken, Narben usw. verschwinden - werden unsichtbar. Wirkt über Nacht, morgens mit einem glatteren, strahlenderem Gesicht aufwachen. Mein Fazit: die Creme ist äußerst gut verträglich und reichhaltig. Das spürt man schon beim Auftragen. Erinnert mich ein wenig an die berühmte La Mer Creme (Duft und Konsistenz), dabei aber um einiges günstiger. Morgens braucht's nun nicht mehr viel. Ein wenig Wasser, Feuchtigkeitscreme und Tagesmake up. Ich persönlich liebe diese Creme und werde das kleine Tiegelchen auch sicher wieder kaufen. Versprechen hin oder her - meine Haut fühlt sich toll an und sieht gut aus ! So weich, glatt und zart war meine Haut am nächsten Morgen schon lange nicht mehr. Dank der aufhellenden Wirkung sieht mein Hautbild auch viel ebenmäßiger aus. So schön, dass ich auch von aussen Komplimente bekomme ;) Daher meine volle Kaufempfehlung.

Its thick and nourishing and has a nice smell. So I think as a night cream it feels luxurious.
