What is the exact diameter of the tool end that goes inside the pipe?

The tool that I received is very slightly under or right at 1.5" at the end. It fit inside my 1.5" drain perfectly.

Has anyone used this on a plastic drain? I used the special removal tool on the drain but it droke he 4 plastic tabs on the inside

Mine wasn’t plastic, but really old cheap degraded metal. I can say, once the tabs are broke off this is probably the best tool out there to get the job done. Hint: set it in the hole with a hammer to get max grip

Has anyone ever had an issue where drain would not come out? How could you remove tool once it was inserted and had to be removed from tub drain?

it only bites into the drain one way, when you reverse your ratchet or wrench the tool releases the tub drain.

Can anyone give me an link of wrench or socket match this extractor?
