If you use a bolt too long for whatever you're needing to fasten to it, it wouldn't fit and you'd have to have use washers or just get a shorter bolt. I still use it because I have all sizes of bolts and it actually fits exactly what I need, but it took me aback when the holes didn't thread all the way through.
