There are so many out there. I didn't want to spend more than $40. This one had good reviews. It's a little bit bigger than my old 500w halogen, height wise. On my first usage, I was up in my attic in a tight area (not a place for the 500w HOT halogen) this light was a foot away and only got luke warm. Very good quality, well made not cheap feeling in any way. Dont look directly into one of these..it will take you a good 10 mins to recover..LOL haven't used it outdoors as of yet. I feel it lights a better area than the old 500W halogen. I use it to provide light for indoor projects such as painting rooms or installing ceiling fans. It provides a great amount of clean white light. I've not used it yet in outdoor situations but I can see it would be very effective at lighting outside projects or activities. Just be careful to not accidentally look directly into the light (which can be hard if you're using it to light up inside projects).
