I've made quite a few meals from this book now and none of them cost a fortune, plus it gives some ideas for using stuff I grow in my garden but have struggled to find a use for (such as lovage, for example - right now I am drying lovage seeds to make the rabbit confit with lovage breadcrumbs). Das Buch teilt sich in die vier Jahreszeiten, so dass der Leser entsprechende Rezepte findet, die mit dem saisonalen Angebot gekocht werden können. Die Rezepte erstrecken sich über die gesamte Bandbreite der Küche: Fleisch, Geflügel, Fisch, Salate, Suppen und Getränke. Neben den wirklich interessanten und originellen Rezepten, die ich häufig zum ersten Mal lese, besticht das Buch mit einer Liebe zum Detail, die wenige Kochbücher aufweisen. Neben der außerordentlich guten Fotografie, die das Buch auch als Fotoband über den Jahresverlauf der Region qualifizieren, wird den Rezepten und auch manchen Zutaten eigene Abschnitte gewidmet. Hier erfährt man Historisches und Wissenswertes und wird inspiriert, die Rezepte selbst zu variieren. Großartig ist auch der Abschnitt gegen Ende des Buches, der in reiner Textform viele Grundlagen für die Rezepte darlegt (z.B. selbst gemachte Brühen, Auszüge). Und als Fan guter Getränke habe ich mich extrem über das Rezept für selbstgemachten Wermut gefreut. Ich kann dieses Buch jedem Essensbegeisterten empfehlen, egal ob man nun selbst kocht oder nur isst. Der Appetit kommt mit dem Stöbern in diesem Buch definitiv. Einziges Manko: einen Teil der Zutaten kann man in Deutschland nur schwer besorgen.
