This book is completely packed with everything you could ever want about Nier. I was giving up hope that we would ever get this in English and was close to getting the Japanese version, but thankfully we got it. This is packed with information on characters, locations, and stories to flesh out the parts of the story that we were never given. If you are a fan of the original Nier game, do yourself a favor and GET THIS BOOK

I was surprised at how much content was packed into this book, as it contains a ton of neat concept art, behind the scenes info, a game strategy guide, and a story guide. It has a lot of information that's missing from the game and a must-have for anyone looking to better understand the characters and story. I can tell that a lot of time and care went into the creation of this book, as everything is laid out in a visually pleasing manner. I plan to add it to my room as display piece!

If you like Nier at all, you absolutely owe it to yourself to get this book. I would say it's 100% necessary for understanding the full story. If you have any questions about project gestalt, the two books, white chlorination syndrome, the mechanics of the universe, the prologue to nier replicant, or anything else, there's a very good chance it's answered in this book. Also contains a great strategy guide, story recap with added details, a beautiful art section, and interviews. The best thing ever for any nier fan. This book is our Bible.

This is a huge book, 1/3 of it is a video game guide, 1/3 of it is a behind-the-scenes art book, but the last 1/3 it is an intense deep dive into the lore of the universe, with side stories, interviews, and a lot of details that can be missed if you just play the game. If you haven't played the game, just read the first 1/3, then finish the game to avoid major spoilers. But if you have played it and loved the story, this still has a lot of value, it will probably give you answers to some confusing topics like the project Gestalt or the reason behind some quirks of the characters. I love the hidden story in the book cover protector. It's a little sequel to Ending E from the game, with a small connection to Automata and maybe even Nier Reincarnation / Drakengard 3.

Amazingly designed book. The art and presentation of the book are next to none. As a fan of the NieR series this covered everything I wanted to know and more. 10/10 If you are a fan of the series, you need to have this book.

If you are looking at Grimoire NieR, then you are a fan of the game. If you are reading this review, then you are a big fan like myself. Grimoire NieR is fantastic. It has a wealth of information. I, unfortunately knew almost everything from reading Grimoire Noir online, and other media from when I played Gestalt back in the day. But that does not detract from this book. I enjoyed reading everything in this wonderful book. I loved that it had the weapon stories, the loading screen text blocks, the short stories from Noir, but my favorite has to be the artwork. There is so much of it too. Including Dad. Yes, dad gets his spotlight in this book, although I wish he had more. But the star of the artwork is of course Kainé. I also loved that they did a great job explaining ending E of Drakengard. That is gonna be fun for those who know little about it. I even had my wife read through the synopsis of the story, including all the endings. She finally understood what makes this game and story great and close to my heart. While there is nothing like replacing the game, this book/guide was great. It explains the missions, side missions, bosses and boss fights and locations. It even tells you where items are for side missions and weapon upgrades. I REALLY needed that trying to upgrade every weapon and 100% the game, but reddit somehow worked. This would have been a god send for me, so for someone who hasn't finished, then this is for you. This story/guide/artwork book is a must for Replicant and Gestalt fans. And for NieR fans in general.

Wow, is this time ever breathtaking! I knew that we were in good hands when I heard that Casey Love would be handling the layouts and translations, but this easily eclipses my expectations by an order of magnitude! I have never seen "Automata" level of detail and care given to the game that started it all, and this book delivers. Seriously, we finally have a compendium worthy of this criminally underrated classic!!

The book is incredibly designed and gives so much more info than I could’ve gotten elsewhere. The art is of amazing quality and it arrived in perfect condition
