Has its flaws but I improvised!
When I first used this cone, it was great. Inflated it up and just wrapped it around the dog's neck. He only had to wear it for one occasion before his scab healed up. Fast forward to last week, he fell down the carpeted stairs chasing his ball and got a nasty rugburn on his back leg. He licked it to the point where it formed a scab and it was gross. The scab fell off but the wound was still raw because he was licking it. I decide to bring out the collar and use it on him. Alas, he was able to wriggle out of it twice and even punctured a hole in the inflatable portion. I was livid. However, I improvised since I did not have time to go out and get a traditional collar. I took his t-shirts, his little winter sweater, and his little crate dog blanket and stuffed the collar shell full and zipped it up. Then, I took one of his spare flat collars and strung it through the slots and buckled it up around the dog's neck before securing the whole collar with the velcro strap. I just sent him to his crate a second ago, we'll see if he was able to a) keep the collar on and b) not lick his sore spot. All in all this is a great product, they just need to make the inflatable part puncture/leakproof!

Pretty good just sizing could be better
I had to give it 4 stars because of the sizing. I wish there was a size between medium and small. I have a Miniature Poodle who likes to get into trouble in the yard by running under and into the bushes. The M size will prevent him from getting into the bushes and the woven material is sturdy enough to take some scraping and snaging of the branches. For his ear problem he wears the smaller S that is enough to prevent him from sticking his hind paws in his ears. However when he has an allergy attack and his ears itch him bad the small is to short for his clever maneuver between the sofa pillows (he will get his paws in his ears once he wedges the collar into the right position) and the M is to big for him to rest comfortably. This collar also holds the air quite long I had other models in the past that needed frequent inflation.

Maybe, maybe not
My dog had a leg amputation and is wearing a lamp shade to prevent self damage to the stitches. She basically has tunnel vision because of the lampshade and can't eat or drink without help. So, the ProCollar is probably an awesome product but didn't work for her. The first one had a leak in the bag and the second couldn't prevent her from reaching the stitches. She is part rat terrier and part dachshund making her a little longer than average in the body with a pretty long nose. So, this may work for your pup but didn't work out for mine.

Contech ProCollar Protective Collar, Medium
Not what the doctor order for our crazy shipoo. He is a wild one!! Even after his operation the collar did not stop him from removing ii to get to his surgery incision. I'm sure this collar for an ordinary more calm puppy will be great. Just not for Kirby as even a plastic cone did not stop him. Oh whoa is me!!! But we still love him. LOL Update: Three stars a little unfair as Kirby's wild side should not downgrade the collar, so I'm changing the rating to 4 stars.

A Headlock that does the trick and does not hurt the animal.
This is the best thing out there if you are on your 4th or 5th pet. If you have had to take your pet back to the vet for ripping out their stitches, this is miraculous for most dogs unless they have a very long body. They can eat and drink without trying to fit that old plastic cone over their dish. Yu can go out without fear of having them get their head and bdy caught in a doorway. This fits snugly around their neck. They can't do much more than look straight ahead or somewhat to the side. They test it out and finely flop to the floor in defeat. I have to say that after washing, the small makes a decent air travel pillow for me. It is plenty comfy and is not hurting them. I have two or three since we end up fostering sometimes. If you are paying for neutering, you may not want to purchase something else. Then consider it a cheap way to get peace of mind and not have to pay another bill when they rip the stitches out you take them back to the vet after hours,

Size range is too big making the collar ineffective
This review is actually for the Large size. I bought that first. There is a 5" spread between the neck sizes this collar is supposed to fit. My dog's neck is at the small end of the size range, and the collar had too much extra space to be effective. It moved too much to prevent her from getting to her incision (following spay surgery), and because there was so much room around her neck, she kept getting her front leg stuck in it. It might have worked if there were more loops to thread the dog's collar through or if there was a better way to close the bottom of the protective collar other than the single velcro strap. Very disappointed. It would have been good if it were available in proper sizes or designed to work properly across the size variation. (I followed up with the next size smaller, but that didn't fit at all.) In addition, the material is rather abrasive and unfortunately rubbed right where the vet had shaved my dog's front leg for her IV - another thing to consider depending on the size of your dog and why she's wearing the collar.

OK, but not what I needed!
My dog had cataract eye surgery in both eyes and from reading another review, I thought this would do the trick. When I showed it to the doctor before the surgery he said, that is not going to work. So after the surgery I decided to check for myself and took the plastic cone off and replaced it with the ProCollar and she immediately started to scratch her eyes! So the plastic cone had to go back on for 2 weeks. This would probably work if she had surgery on her leg, or was not supposed to reach behind.

Pannenreifen

Alles in allem sehr gute Idee.

Disappointed
The Procollar is not what it once was. I had purchased a Procollar years ago and was impressed by the quality of the product. When I had to replace it, I looked for the same make since I had heard that the other brands of donut dog collars were not as durable as the Procollar. Although the neck size on the newer version of the Procollar is the same as that of the older model, the actual donut is several centemetres thinner/shorter. With the new Procollar my dog is easily able to lick his hotspots. I am very disappointed with the new Procollar. I will have to look for a new alternative to the traditional e-collar.
