Impossible to grow out of
If this is your first telescope, you will forever have a use for it. While you may eventually get a bigger telescope with more light gathering capabilities for astronomical observation, this telescope remains an excellent choice for terrestrial observation due to its light and portable nature.

It's not bad, although I did expect the clarity to be a little better. Great for kids who you are not sure will take to the hobby. I did increase their interest and we will probably upgrade in the future.

May have to put the largest lens in the scope in mine were loose not in the instructions how to do this
The lenses were nicked, and I had to put them in. I think they were suppose to come ready as there was nothing in the instructions. So I guessed in how to put the large one in. Decided the nicks were on the edge and so decided to try out the scope tonight on the 4th of July. It still may work fine will just have to find out.

Bout this telescope for my 7-year-old, and she absolutely LOVES it!!! We used it during the last full moon. The temperature was -10F and I could hardly get her away from looking at the moon! We are excited to take it camping with us this summer.

Not extremely sturdy with some loose fitting pieces, but great for looking on the horizon and at the moon!

My TravelScope 50 was clearer
I saw bad chromatic aberration when doing a test viewing of Jupiter. Was hoping to see cloud bands, which I couldn't with my TravelScope 50. Not only was there bad CA, I saw a double image on the Kellner 9mm eyepiece which I didn't see when replacing with the 8mm Plossl eyepiece from my TravelScope. The Kellner did seem brighter though it was to no use with the CA. I tried replacing the eyepiece and diagonal mirror with my other scope and still saw the CA. I expect variation in quality with these lenses, it's possible I got unlucky with my unit or lucky with the TS 50. But for my purposes, this was a fail and I have packed it up to return.

Excellent quality and great price
Really great telescope. Was a birthday gift for my son. The images are very sharp and you can actually see the craters on the moon. Very happy with it.

Somewhat disappointing
The Orion is a good piece of equipment but very limited as picture enhancement is not as good as I thought it would be. Yes, you can see the moon crystal clear, but not much more than that, and even so it's too small of an image. Maybe it's OK to start, but very limited for those wanting to look at the nightsky.

Recomendado para iniciación
Por el precio que tiene es una opción muy recomendable, eso si, siempre hablando de una iniciación a la astronomía. Podrás ver Jupiter, un Saturno bien definido y la Luna en perfectas condiciones. Recomendado.
