5/5 would recommend
This Whynter inverter portable AC is a total game-changer for keeping rooms cool without sending electric bills through the roof. The inverter technology makes a massive difference compared to traditional units—it adjusts cooling speed continuously instead of constantly cycling on and off at full blast. Key highlights: Super Quiet Operation: Because the inverter compressor ramps down once the target temperature is reached, it runs whisper-quiet—perfect for bedrooms or home offices. Rapid & Efficient Cooling: Cools down hot spaces fast and keeps the temperature rock-steady without harsh temperature spikes. Sleek & Sturdy Build: Setup was straightforward, and the unit feels durable, well-designed, and easy to move around. If you want a powerful, energy-efficient portable AC that won't drown out your TV or conversations, this Whynter unit is worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Unit
This is a fantastic unit. The dual inverter and dual hose make it highly efficient, it works much better than any previous portable AC unit that I have ever owned. Quiet operation, tons of cooling, easy to clean the filter. We can sleep at night again thanks to this unit.

Powerful, Smart, and Dual-Hose Air Conditioner
This portable air conditioner is an absolute powerhouse, from the innovative dual hose-in-hose design to the incredibly efficient inverter technology. It delivers exceptional cooling ability and really great features. I love the smart functionality of this unit. The companion app connects via WiFi and lets you control everything remotely. It gives you the ability to turn the AC on from your phone, which is perfect for pre-cooling a scorching hot garage or workshop before you even head out there. And since it uses an inverter compressor, you will see a notable difference in your energy bill because it doesn't just blast on and off—it smartly scales power down once it reaches your target temp. Coming to the cooling performance itself, it works remarkably well. It effortlessly pushes cold air across a large 600-square foot room, and the dual-hose setup means you aren't fighting negative air pressure. While the fan is definitely audible when running at absolute maximum speed to cool a hot room, it gets exceptionally quiet once the room has reached the target temperature. It makes your life so much easier because it burns off the moisture internally, meaning you rarely ever have to bother with emptying a dripping water tray. My only pet-peeve is the overall weight and bulk. It tips the scales around 80 pounds, so lugging it up a flight of stairs is absolutely a two-person job. But given how effectively it beats the summer heat and how efficiently it runs on lower power, I am absolutely thrilled with the investment. It provides really great value for money when you want to avoid running your central air all day. If you are looking for a reliable, smart, and heavy-duty portable AC for your toughest rooms, then this is it, period!

3 Year Review
I like a nice cold bedroom to fall asleep in, but didn't want to cool my entire house to 68 degrees - that would be too cold, and on a 95 degree day, cost a small fortune and probably wear out my central air unit a lot faster. Going on my 3rd summer with this unit in my master bedroom and it still works great - Whynter has solved a lot of the issues these floor standing units used to have such as: It never needs emptied - it evaporates all of the condensed water back outside. I've unplugged it to empty whatever water was left at the end of each season, and there's not a drop to drain out. It has also never accumulated any ice inside as a result, even on really humid days. Intake and exhaust - doesn't suck in cold air and exhaust it outside, which makes it more efficient and faster to cool a room down. Inverter technology - regardless of what temperature you set them, traditional AC's have only two modes of operation. OFF and ON. These new inverter units can run at many stages of being on, from 0% to 100% and in between, making it more efficient, and less stressful on the internal parts - aka it saves money and prolongs durability (in theory, at least). I find it also makes it quite a bit quieter since it can just throttle on a little bit as needed to keep a room once at set temp. Bonus - it's smart. The app works well although it takes a little getting used to. Using the app, I set it to run on a smart curve cycle. At 8pm it turns on and starts cooling the room and stays cold through the night. In the early morning, it starts to step up a couple degrees every hour, then turns off until the following evening. Every day, all by itself. Cons The bracket is pretty minimalistic and you will probably have to cut it if you have a window opening less than 3 feet wide or so. It does look more attractive than a big AC sticking out of your window, it mounts into the track your window rides in - so you can still close the screen and keep bugs from getting in. It has wheels but it is heavy. Have fun getting it up the stairs, lol

The best portable AC I've used, just had to duct tape the seal
I previously had used an LG-LP1419IVSM for 4 years, got it right around the time when dual hoses just barely started to show up and it was used heavily the entire 4 years to beat out southern USA heat until it finally displayed a CH38 (refrigerant) error and their support was unacceptably bad, anyways, this Whynter ARC-1230WN 14,000 BTU unit so far seems to be better in every way. Still relatively early to gauge energy use but it seems to be more efficient, at worst it's costing the same amount on the electricity bill but cooling the room much more easily, the hose of the previous would constantly feel warm/hot and this always feels like room temperature or so. The filter is a single piece (instead of the 4 pieces of the previous AC mentioned) so it's very easy to maintain. Connecting the hose to the window piece is a bit more difficult, and has a few tiny openings where light (and bugs) could get through, so I had to duct tape around the end of the hose to feel like it's more properly sealed, and the shape of the end of the hose has some variation to it which makes it a bit difficult to duct tape, but that's a simple fix and I haven't seen any obvious sign of insects yet. I assume those openings are too small so in terms of cooling it's probably a negligible difference. Also I had to cut the piece down to fit my window, which is mentioned in the instructions and luckily wasn't too difficult for me, but does make it less accessible for any who doesn't have a window which matches the size of the included parts. Once everything was set up, I've got no issues with it, it cools well for what I need, it's easy to maintain, it seems to be efficient on energy, it costed less than my previous portable AC, it's not very loud and I'm used to idle noise so the noise it makes isn't disturbing to me. If it had that slight hose issue fixed then I think it seems to be the best a portable AC can be currently, I'd recommend it.

Well designed,Well executed....
It runs continually and thats a good thing. Set the temp once and let the electronics use the variable speed compressor to control the actual room temp. It works and it works well. It is 100F right now and I'm cooling the kitchen ,living room and breakfast nook with no problem. I love the two hose into one concept. Makes installation easy. They supply more than enough adapters, sticky foam, etc to make the installation simple. Couldnt be more happy. Update 1 month: 1) The hose to the window is translucent. At night from the outside the room lights up the hose and it looks like Time Tunnel from the street. I would prefer the black hose for this reason. 2) When the compressor spools up there is a sub sonic rumble in the floor. 3) In my fairly small living room I point the airflow at the ceiling. It bounces off the ceiling and spreads evenly thru out the room. As far as operation its the best air conditioner of this type I have owned. Love it.

Fantastic!
Cannot recommend this air conditioner enough. Love how well-built it is. It's plastic of course, but not that cheap noisy plastic. That means any vibrations will not sound nearly as loud as when manufacturers use cheaper materials. The dual hose setup is really interesting, having two hoses in one. I don't know that I understand this, but it does make it more convenient having one giant hose vs two single hoses. The downside is it makes it more difficult to insulate if you want to insulate the exhaust hose. It's a bit cumbersome, but so are regular "standard-sized" exhaust hoses. The compressor is EXTREMELY quiet. I had it on the coolest setting and highest fan and it wasn't bad at all. When set to automatic, on the lowest setting, I almost don't hear it at all while it is running - no joke! This was super important to me and I'm glad it lives up to its claims. VERY QUIET! Great for the bedroom! And yes of course it cools phenomenally. Cools the bedroom no problem, cools the entire upstairs no problem, and it is larger than 600sq ft. This is a pricey machine, but worth it if you're looking for a quiet and well-built air conditioner with all the modern tech. I'm going to be honest, while the app usage is cool, I didn't even bother because I don't mind pressing the buttons on the machine or using the remote. If you like the ability to turn it on before getting home, or setting it up to your home smart devices, it would be extremely convenient. My ONLY complaint so far is that there is quite a lot of air leakage where the hose attaches to the window attachment. Not a HUGE issue as I can wrap something around it (or tape even would work), but it is something I wish they could work on. They included lots of insulation that came in handy. Some with tape, some without tape. I got creative with it and it came in very handy.

High quality AC unit!
This AC unit works GREAT!!! The phrase "you get what you pay for" certainly applies to this AC unit!... meaning... I know this unit is on the higher end for price when it comes to AC units, but man does this thing perform! Sure we could have gotten a different unit for probably half the price but I read way too many reviews of those units having too many issues and not performing to expectation. We bought this unit for our master bedroom which is around 250-300 square feet. Unfortunately in our hot Colorado summer days our master bedroom that is located on the 2nd level of our home just doesn't cool down the way we would like with our home's built in AC. Beacuse of this beast AC unit by Whynter we can finally cool our master bedroom down to sleep cool and comfortably. It is really quiet for the amount of cool air it puts out, basically putting out white noise which we love and helps us sleep, and has tons of functionalities. Don't even look for another AC unit besides this one... trust me! You won't be disappointed!

Great AC unit, solid and does the job
This thing is a beast - great for condo use, relatively easy to set up, easy to set and use. I have it in my bedroom and provided I leave the bedroom door open before bedtime it makes a decent attempt on taking the worst edge off the rest of the condo as well. With the door shut it brings the room to a comfortable level quickly and keeps it there easily. Livable but less positive - sleep mode doesn't just reduce the throughput, it appears to switch it off completely. The noise of operation is easy to sleep through, but it does have an unfortunate habit of beeping when it changes mode, and those are not easy to sleep through.
