Clearspring Malt syrups have a rich, mellow taste, and a milder sweetness than that of sugar, honey or maple syrup. Made by the traditional malting of organic Cereal Grains. As a result, they are less likely to overpower the taste of other foods and can be used to sweeten hot drinks and baked foods, as well as toppings for cakes, pancakes and desserts. This dark-brown, thick and sticky syrup with a distinctive malty flavour is about half as sweet as refined white sugar. All our products have a distinctive flavour. The popular brand names have not produced the tasty bread that they used to for years now. A generous teaspoon of this syrup is added to a small amount of very warm water, stirred in well and topped up with cold water to near the amount required for the loaf. I use scales to measure the exact amount required. It helps to make a pleasing, tasty loaf with a lovely texture which is also endorsed by my neighbours!
