FINALLY – My Son Put Down The iPhone!
A complete beginner's woodcarving set sure to get your child (or inner child) off the iPhone, and into the world of true creativity again – at a bargain price almost anyone can afford. In a world where getting the kids into a new hobby can cost an arm and a leg, this is my biggest impression of the Bright Hobby (Premium Mart) 26-Piece Wood Carving Tools Kit, which came with everything we needed to immediately get creative, and get whittling together as a family using wood we sourced from our own backyard. To think we have paid many times the value of this kit seeking opportunities for quality time with our family; while this kit costs so much less, while delivering exponentially more! The kit came packaged in a tidy black zippered case, which when unzipped revealed a surprising bounty of tools neatly tucked away inside. It was actually a lot of stuff for so little! We received 10 nicely finished wood handled blade tools, a 6" ruler and matching mini-pencil with a cute clear cap (a nice touch to keep the lead from transferring while in storage!), two dusting cloths (we weren't sure what to do with these), four pieces of AA-180 sandpaper, a high performance "level 5 cut resistant" glove in size "Large" and five tiny fingertip protectors made out of the same material as the glove. Last but not least, we received a sharpening stone that to be honest we are afraid to use at the current time, being that everything in the kit is new and sharp and cuts nicely. In the future when the blades inevitably begin to dull, we will be looking up how to use it. For now though, it is nice to know we have it! For the record, we have other tools from this company, Bright Hobby, and find them refreshingly down to Earth and helpful! They answered questions we had in the past concerning other products of theirs we ordered (another set of wood tools) and I really appreciated being able to reach a person who genuinely seemed to care. The small blades do a nice job cutting, outlining, whittling, and chiseling softer wood projects, and the smooth handles feel nice in the hand as I work. It should be noted hard wood projects might best employ the gentle tap of a soft rubber mallot with some of the chisels, or else be ready to exercise some patience to see the project through! But these tools are up to the job, no less! It should also be mentioned that I am quite a novice when working with tools. We just love to create! This kit gave us everything we needed to get started without any prior experience. We have been having a blast carving up small pieces of the tree we had cut down last month, and really, I've not seen anything lately so sure to get my son off his technology and into the present! It has been so nice just to sit and talk with my child! What a blessing! Who would have imagined inviting a teenager to play with blades would be so effective? Why didn't I think of this sooner? This kit is such a great way to encourage creative exploration and development of real world recreational hobbies/skills with kids (or maybe your own inner-artist!), contains everything a beginner needs to get started (except perhaps detailed use instructions), and at an unbeatable value. I highly recommend it for children and adults alike. Try it and see for yourself! While I purchased the previous version of this tool kit on my own without solicitation from the seller, this particular kit was offered to me, a pre-existing customer, based on the fact that I had purchased a kit of m own in the past and had reached out to ask questions about the hobby itself. The company actually remembered this, and wrote to me to see how we were doing, and offered to send me this kit in exchange for a review. While other compensated reviews often leave me personally feeling they cannot be trusted to be objective, I feel like the way this company reached out to me lends them even more credibility, not less! They remembered me, remembered the things I shared about being new to the whittling world and wanting to know about more tools that could help us complete our kit, and were thoughtful enough to reach out more than six months later! Since then I have learned the company is passionate about providing kids and adults with ways to explore the world just like the good old days of yesteryear. Wholesome fun, giving our eyes and fingers a break from typing and texting. This is such an admirable mission! I not only highly recommend this kit, but because of this mission focus, highly recommend you consider making your purchase today and future purchases from Bright Hobby – whose business page can be found by following the link in the product listing above. I think we should all support them!Thank you!

Worth the purchase
Looks for a set of chisels for small detail work? These are the ticket. Buy a sharpening stone though because they lose their edge quickly. Definitely worth the purchase!

Not a fan of it for wood
Maybe I'm to much of a newbie but these aren't exactly working for me with wood .... I could see them being more for softer carving but not anything more than possibly basal wood

Definitely for beginners
Not the sharpest best quality for the price but it works for now. Definitely for soft woods. Wish there were smaller sizes included.

I Didn’t hear back from seller when requesting help
I received the product quickly and it was packaged well. One of the selling points was that it is stated that it has Japanese steel blades. It also came with a card to scan which linked to a site where you could enter to win a prize and register for a lifetime warranty on the tools, which seemed great. I did not see any mention on the packaging that the tools has Japanese steel blades, and the scan code just goes to a broken Facebook link. When I emailed the email on the card that asks to give them a chance to fix any dissatisfaction with the product, I have not received a reply and it’s been five days. The product is an affordable “beginner” set, so I don’t expect exceptional results with the product, but customer service could be improved. I waited to do this review purposely this long to give them a chance to answer my questions, but I have heard nothing. As for the product, they are starter tools, and they aren’t as sharp as they should be, and a tip of the widest angle blade did snap doing a detail cut, but it can be honed back to a point. I can make do with them.

Hmm
Love the compact case. Don't love the tiny blade sharpener. Under stand is for beginners but large man hands will have a hard time with that item. The tools are nice, love the design.
